Hello,

Can I used this method on stock LPY kernel. In warning thread the said that you don't flash anything on stock LPY kernel.
In recovery you must must flash cwm.zip and busybox. When I do that is there a change that I hard brick my phone??

Hi,

Thanks for the update. This is some additional feedback for you, as I am following your script. When firmware was downloaded, SGN booted into download mode but when I unplugged it (according to point 2.), ODIN didn't start, I eventually hit a button and I ended up with congrats ... I am rooted ;) .

You should probably make a note after point 2. - if ODIN didn't start, run it manually and follow points up to 9.

Then the last step, firstly it was not sure, whether the zImage is already in the SD card, or where it was downloaded. Then flashing new kernel is where I stuck at the moment, as I don't do that stuff as often as you. Needed to find how to get to CWM recovery ;), what combination of buttons, but then I didn't find inside the CWM and option to flash kernel, as zImage is not zip file, so would appreciate your help here. Thanks

Thanks again for the feedback. To get to to CWM you have to press power + volume up + home. Or just enable usb debugging, open a cmd as admin in the PC and type: adb reboot recovery...DO NOT FLASH THE KERNEL IN RECOVERY

to flash the kernel, you need to go to the CWM manager app in the app drawer, then choose to flash kernel there and find where the zImage file is. The best thing to do is to create a folder in the external_sd named firmaware. Hope that helps and will update what u suggested....:D

Excellent, I am rooted now. Just one more question, is it safe to flash firmware with CWM, or is it better (safer with ODIN)?

still no joy for me, going to try on laptop, only thing i can think of is i doesnt like 64 bit windows
That is weird. I have a laptop with 64 bit windows. Maybe you can try to install the commands and .dll's in the files folder directly in the c:\windows folder manually. That is where it should be installed. It worked for me and some other that have tried it so far. The files you need are:

adb.exe
adbwinapi.dll
adbwinusbapi.dll
wget.exe
fastboot.exe
md5sum.exe

Try installing that files and then rerun the script....

Is safe to wipe in Gingerbread. Never do a full wipe or wipe anything in an ICS kernel. If you want to flash stock firmware you can do it safely with Odin PC or Mobile Odin, but a custom rom must always be flashed from CWM. Remember you have the CWM Manager APP.

Glad you made it. Thanks again for the support...:victory:

Hi,

so I guess, that after downgrading to 2.3.5 and rooting I could go back to 2.3.6 (no interest in 4.0.3). Could you advice me please, whether I can use this ROM: N7000XXLA6---------2.3.6-------2012 February-------N7000OXXLA1-------------Slovakia, which is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 post #4 through mobile ODIN pro (flashing firmware)? I do not see whether it is wipe or non wipe ... Thanks
