Hi,

so I guess, that after downgrading to 2.3.5 and rooting I could go back to 2.3.6 (no interest in 4.0.3). Could you advice me please, whether I can use this ROM: N7000XXLA6---------2.3.6-------2012 February-------N7000OXXLA1-------------Slovakia, which is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 post #4 through mobile ODIN pro (flashing firmware)? I do not see whether it is wipe or non wipe ... Thanks
Ok, yes always flash the firmware with mobile Odin and choose to keep CF KERNEL, just to keep the rooted phone. Then, look for a CF-KERNEL for your updated firmware and flash it also with mobile odin or CWM manager.

Just to know if the firmware is wipe or non wipe, download it and check if in the folder (extracted) is a file data.img....if there is then is wipe, if not is non wipe. hope it helps....:good:

OK, just to clarify - the ROM file is just one single N7000XXLA6_N7000OXXLA1_N7000XXLA4_HOME.tar.md5 - that would mean as you say a non wipe firmware. If I use Mobile ODIN Pro, I should keep EverRoot I guess.

When I use CWM, I should keep CF-Root Kernel. But you say I should look for CF-Kernel for my updated firmware, so you say the one I get now with 2.3.5 is not going to work, if so could you point me where to find some? Thanks.

What I actually was trying to say is that extract that .tar file to see if inside is a data.img file....and yep in CWM manager choose to keep CF-KERNEL. The actual kernel is not that is won´t work, but is better to have a matching kernel because probably will work more efficiently....

hahahaha...you can also flash the LB1 (spain or Poland - XXLB1) wich is non wipe....well, now are having practice.....:p Any stock firmware is ok for your phone....just choose one u like!

so, basically this rooting also work for ICS 4.0.4 ?
Just plug in the device, and the script will run to root the ICS device ?
No, unfortunately is not that simple :(, but it will guide you through the whole process. It will download the custom kernel you choose, boot the phone in download mode and open Odin PC. You will have just to choose PDA , finde the file and press start. Hope it helps.

Take into consideration that this only for stock devices. :victory:

OK, this is about rooting. this is just the same procedure the community have been using for a while. Now, as Dr. Ketan tells you a new method have been proposed. So, I will look into it to update the script if possible. Anyway, rooting is always dangerous and not recommended to noobs that do not understand what they are doing. You are not obliged to use the script. Again, rooting involves knowledge of what involves in case you get stuck.

The procedure here it is very clear and so is the script. Maybe next time a PM would be just fine if you think that this thread is not right instead of trolling.

P.S.: This is not a discussion, this is my thread and my tool, using others procedures and tools (as stated in the OP.) Mabye, you should read a bit more and find that the new safer procedure has been discussed this weekend for the first time, and I won´t risk to update the script with a process that was not yet sure to be safe (remeber the temp CMW touch was the safest way to root ICS a few months ago). CWM 6.0 is not yet proven to be safe.

Hi,

Just tried your update script and there seems to be a number of bugs inside it:

1) the Copy command to copy the ADB files to C:\Windows is not working even with Administrator access
2) Upon running, the prompt will come up to say that the adb version is too old or cannot run as root

Can you please have a look at this?

Hey thanks for the feedback. I am having a look at it. I have just tested it yesterday after flashing the JB official update with Odin PC and found other bugs too. I am looking into them and I hope to sort them out as soon as possible. Thanks again for the feedback;

Just to register:

I´ve tired of all ICS / JB / KK roms, custom or stock: all have some bugs and dry my battery out!

Did a downgrade, back again to original 2.3.5 stock rom and afterthat running the oneclickroot with success.

It is very funny how so simple things can make us happy again! :)

SCAM!! Stay away!

Completely terrible. I am a noob when it comes to rooting, I'll gladly admit that. So the deceitful title of "oneclickroot" was very appealing. Not knowing much about rooting, as I stated, I read what could be done with a rooted device and went for it. Not properly knowing the risks, I had oneclickroot root my phone. I purchased the root with a warranty for $49.99. The process had to be done remotely and took about 6 hours to accomplish spread out over two days. After it was complete, I tried to load a custom bootloader and my phone was bricked. Apparently my Boot animation was still locked after root. I thought I would be able to load a custom boot animiation, but Kemark informed me I was unable.<----(Can someone tell me if this is legit?) They unbricked my phone remotely and all was "apparently" good. I then found out that my GPS and netflix no longer worked. Even after downloading the Netflix APK. I should've done more research, I know. After contacting them, they informed me the warranty was "one time use". Weird warranty. During the whole process they continually tried to sell me more packages. I guess I'll chalk it up to a $49.99 lesson and do more research. I have attached a transcript of my last conversation with the company. I particularly like the last statement from Kemark. In my opinion, stay away. Fine a technology savvy friend to help.

Hello Sean, my name is Kemark and I'll be your agent today. How may I assist?

Sean 04:46:21 pm
Hello I had you guys root my phone, but it hasn't been a good experience. You guys were great. Nothing but the best I just would like my phone restored and a refund.
I am way over my head with rooting 04:47:07 pm
lol
There are many thing that don't work anymore

Kemark 04:49:56 pm
I am sorry to hear that sean, but the job has already been done there is no refund and you used your warranty last night to reroot you will have to purchase the unroot

Sean 04:50:20 pm
So the warranty is only good for one time use?
My phone doesn't work

Kemark 04:50:32 pm
yes

Sean 04:51:40 pm
The GPS, Netflix, other apps. The phone is laggy and unresponsive. If this is the case, this is some shady service

Kemark 04:54:39 pm
it's not a shady service sean I am sure you were aware of the problems that come with rooting your device? there is a disclaimer, some apps like Netflix pokemon go google pay and Samsung pay among others don't work on rooted device

Sean 04:55:06 pm
I understand that. But the reason I purchased the warranty was for technical support
Since when is a "warranty" for one time use?
I guess I'm the idiot 04:56:19 pm
I should have read the reviews on you guys before purchasing. I'll just chalk it up to a $40.00 lesson

Kemark 04:56:47 pm
30 Days Warranty:
The said package is only ONE TIME that can cover a specific support such as:
Unbrick
Re-Root
Unroot
Choose only one depending on the customer's situation. You cannot use the warranty for UNBRICK + RE-ROOT or UNROOT + RE-ROOT. It only cover ONE support. It is either "Unbrick" OR "Re-Root" OR "Unroot"
Were you not advised of this sean? 04:57:22 pm

Sean 04:58:00 pm
I was never advised on anything. Last night you apologized for not letting me know that the Bootloader was still locked.

Kemark 04:58:58 pm
yes. that was on the need to know depending on the customer's needs

Sean 05:00:06 pm
The customer needs to know what they can and cannot due with the service you provide. The only reason my phone was bricked was because I was not informed that my bootloader was locked.

Kemark 05:03:03 pm
most of here already assume that customers already know what they are getting selves into, there are a lot of consequences that comes with root, not enough time to go over all of them that's why it helps us help you has a customer when you ask questions

Sean 05:05:24 pm
Assumptions are the problem. You guys make it seem so easy with your advertising so people who are not savvy with technology fill safe. Then when things go wrong, you extract more money out of them to fix their devices. You guys were trying to sell me packages the whole time you were rooting my phone

Kemark 05:06:24 pm
the packages are supposed to help you as a customer

Sean 05:09:42 pm
Obviously this PACKAGE I purchased is not helping me, THE CUSTOMER, at all. But if your company is not willing to refund my payment that's fine. The vagueness of your packages and the overall deceit in the naming of "ONECLICKROOT" should have been obvious to me. You guys have poor reviews specifically about what I am dealing with.

Kemark 05:15:35 pm
I apologize for your disappointment and that you were not properly informed of the 30dyas warranty support package and what it adheres to, but if you decide to unroot your device it will cost 39.95

Sean 05:15:59 pm
Lol
Great answer 05:16:02 pm
