I'm using Xperia S, rooted and unlocked bootloader.

I'm able to download RecoverX and run CWM but can't get into recovery mode. Please help.

I doesn't work for me either (on my XSL). I recommend you try DoomLoRD's CWM installer, and that you check my tutorial (on my signature).

How do you download from devhost? I get to save only some malware exe instead of what I need.

There's usually 2 buttons, one that says "Download" and one that says "Download Now". The latter is the one that works.

Does this software still work well in this year 2017? Can it be used with confidence for the new Chinese phone models today?

I wanted to know if the server error in connection with the large DDoS attack on your service and some websites are down was solved?
I still have the error message "a protpcol error has occurred, recoverx is unable to work error 7"

They should put in their publication all the operating systems supported by this great software, in my case, I have Windows 10 64bit. And when these failures occur, you can think that it is due to the S.O.
