I have been reading around on how to root and flash a customer rom to my Evo3d. I have a few doubts to clear out before I try this method. Can you please help me out.

* My Phone has 1.53.0007 CID is htc__044
* The phone has 3.28.707.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06

My doubts.

1. Do I rename RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.28.707.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_264110_signed.zip to PG86IMG.zip?

Or

do I download RUU_Shooter_U_hTC_Asia_TW_1.23.709.4_Radio_10.55.9020.00_10.13.9020.29_M_release_211198_signed.exe (which is an older version with a Different CID) extract the rom.zip and rename the rom.zip to PG86IMG.zip and then put it into my SDcard.

Simply put do I put the older version into my sdcard or the version that is already in my phone into the SDCard?

2. Is the main and only reason behind the above step is to simply to brick the phone? or does the live cd use the PG86IMG.zip that is in the sdcard when it brings back the phone to life.

3. How does ultimate or the live cd lower the hbpoot. are the lower hboot files already programmed into the live cd if so, the PG86IMG.zip does not matter if I have the older version or the current version?

4. Or once the Hboot do I use RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.28.707.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_264110_signed.exe?

5. Finally can I change my CID to HTC__001 Can I proceed with the European version of the RUU for the whole process?

Thanks in advance for all your help. I need to get these things right before I proceed. by the way your work here is Excellent. I searched all over the forum and I must comment you on your work. :)

Many Many thanks to Unknownforce for clearing my doubts. I was able to downgrade using URTLiveCD 1.0

I was happy, really happy..... :D untill i tried to flash an older rom. I got CID error via RUU and the ZIP method.

So i checked my cid it was CID:0202  so i searched around for way to change it to my original cid which is htc__044

I unlocked the boot loader did the fastboot command to write the cid it said successful then i relocked the bootloader checked the cid again it said CID:0202 :crying:

What does this CID mean? is this a CDMA CID?

I'm thinking if I can find a rom that matches this cid flash that then S-OFF via revolutionary and then use a super cid script to change it back to htc__044

Do you think it might work? Any suggestions are appreciated at this point.

OK I got this thinng to work... since readcid show htc__001 I used JBFWTOOL21 to go into RUU modem. Then is rechecked my cid with getvar cid it showed htc__001.
Then I flashed the euro GB rom 1.20 while in RUU modem via Fastboot it flashed and changed my cid to htc__001 :)

I think this method should work for any one the trick is to make sure that you have a rom that matches the cid that shows when they do readcid command.:D

going to S-Off and enjoy my evo-3d custom roms

Glad it worked out for you. I'm a little disappointed that @Unknownforce doesn't answer my PMs. My challenge to solve: Automatic unbricking via URT on my openSUSE tells 'misc partition missing'.

And the hint from @Unknownforce to manually unbrick with the file *.hb0 from the ROM just results in "FAILED". Is the EVO of my friend now a true brick? Any good help will receive thumps up!

I have successfully bricked my evo 3d, but when I try to run the URT live cd, and after connecting my device, it will just stay at waiting for the phone, nothing happening after that, I left my phone connected for more than 8 hours, what could be wrong?

Awesome. Instead of an answer to my question, you inject your own. WTF. And here's my answer to yours: REMOVE THE BATTERY OF YOUR PHONE before using this tool! And who is able to answer MY question?

This actually looks like it will work...
But can someone pretty please make a much less complicated tutorial?
Im a complete noob at this, I dont even know what a RUU is or what to do with the URTlive cd...is it a lunux? or anything :S
I dont even know how you got the PG86IMG file...

I have a evo 3d with hboot 1.53.0007, locked, and s-on
The phones motherboard was replaced so htc dev not working...

The software number is 3.28.401.1, android 4.0.3

The problem is also that this is my only phone, so if I do something wrong, I cant just wait 2 days for someone to reply on my problem :D

@Unknownforce, please add this to the OP: If option "Downgrade HBOOT" does not work on the first attempt, let your phone sit for a few days. Reason: Today I searched extremely hard again to find the correct hb0-file for another attempt to manually downgrade, but then, after months of waiting, the unbelievablke happened: I did not need to manually downgrade. Your tool just worked right out of the box. To make my point: Everything is AWESOME now, Unknownforce! I'll be rooting away now, my friend will be happy! THANK YOU for your development!

Oh, you mean, you left the phone with the battery in to just sit for a few days and re-run the live cd?

I am stuck at this step, It just gets stuck at waiting for the device for hours.

Hello guys, i have i evo 3d that it had the motherboard replaced and i managed to get the S-OFF throw this method thanks to @Unknownforce but now i want to unroot my Evo. I searched the forum and i found a lot of guides but i'm aware that the bootloader can't be unlocked because of the motherboard replacement, so the question is can i type commands for the bootloader like fastboot oem writesecureflag or fastboot reboot-bootloader after i flashed the PG86IMG.zip fron this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710033.

Status - Revolutionary-
Hboot: 1.49.1107
S-OFF

Does anybody have the 2.95 Sprint RUU? If so, I would be so grateful. It is not posted anywhere.

Otherwise would this work? I get HTC unlock and flash 2.89 RUU. I then turn off OEM unlock and then proceed with the URT process.

Last time, my friend asked me, if I make downgrade hboot from 1.53 to 1.49, root his device and make s-off. He told me, that he have done something, but didn't work. So I make it once more from start.
At first, I have downloaded from http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Shooter the same version software, that he have- that was ( RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed.exe ). I take his rom.zip change name to PG86IMG.zip . This zip I copy on micro sd card and plug in into evo 3d. Restart Evo 3d into bootloader. He take this zip and at first time(i have forgot take off battery) and this rom was installing normal at system. Later, phone start normal into system.
Once more I have reboot device into bootloader and make with this guide from this tool.Phone was bricked. Now I use URT - downgrade was success. I turn on Evo and that was on the screen:
*** RELOCKED ****
*** Security Warning ***
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.49.007
RADIO-11.25.3504.06_M
OpenDSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
eMMC-boot
Jul 12 2011, 15:29:51
So I download software from http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Shooter with RUU 1.20 that was:
RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.2_Radio_10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203403_signed.exe
RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.8_Radio_10.59.9020.00_10.15.9020.06_M_release_219793_signed.exe
Put zip on sdcard and he write me:
Wrong CID !
So I have try with another and was the same situation (Wrong CID ! / Incorrect Model! ). So I have downloaded all software on this site and only RUU from Sprint was correct but....
I have entry to HBOOT, he take this zip, first load (blue) go normal, second (gold) go normal, but when he comes to 100%, take me back to HBOOT menu and do nothig, like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhL5HkgJ0Y8[/

*****update****
I have connect to device via fastboot, changed CID but it's still problem to flash any rom - phone does not ask to upgrade PG86IMG.zip

*****SOLVED*****
I take rom.zip from RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.2_Radio_10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203403_signed.exe
and I use fastboot, to write rom to device:

fastboot oem lock <---I have unlocked with htcdev and in ruu mode he don't want to upgrade so I must luck it back and

fastboot erase cache

fastboot oem rebootRUU

fastboot flash zip rom.zip

after installation, when terminal says that all is done:

fastboot reboot

Now Evo3d work and i can take s-off.

Sorry for my bad english.

Best Regards.

First was not getting the brick...then I managed great !

But now I'm totally stuck with the cid 0202 and can't install any RUU !!!! Pleaseeee somebody helps me ! :crying::crying::crying::crying:

Tried almost all RUUs with all methods. exe, SD and fastboot. getting invalid signature

fastboot readcid brings me ROGER001 (original cid) but fastboot getvar and getvar all brings cid 0202

My son's evo (see my sig) suddenly shot down and I did not manage to bring it back to live again.
I do not see a solid dim light when plugged into charger.
Windows shows me device "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
"MMC Storage Controller" is not shown.
With ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit) dmesg shows the following when plugging in to usb (direct port of notebook)
Code:
[ 7214.924301] usb 1-1.4: new high-speed USB device number 10 using ehci_hcd
[ 7215.018035] qcserial 1-1.4:1.0: Qualcomm USB modem converter detected
[ 7215.018185] usb 1-1.4: Qualcomm USB modem converter now attached to ttyUSB0
I tried to run the tool, but no device is found.
So I assume device is real death?
