Hey everyone,

i got a Problem with the newest Version of Flashtool.
Fyi: Last summer i owned a Z1, Flashtool worked flawlessly there.

Got a Z1c last week, redownloaded the newest flashtool and installed it. Installed the Drivers and moved my .ftf (actually only kernels for the root method) to C:\Flashtool\firmwares.

Upon start-up, FLashtool gave me the Message :

Please move C:\Flashtool\firmwares Content to C:\Users\*****\.flashTool\firmwares

So i moved my two .ftf files to the Folder, pressed okay on the notice. Nothing happend.
Restarted flashtool, same message. Restarted, same message. Reinstalled, same message. Always checked if i copied all to the right Folder.

Maybe a noob erroe, but found nothing what so all on the Internet.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Edit: Just saw two post above the Linux guy with the same error. Copying the files and pressing okay did not solve the issue for me.
I've also posted a post with previous version of flashtool and download location. Try this. For me with the previous version is everything OK

Here it is:

Well, everything looks fine.. It should be running ok.

I'm out of ideas since working ok for me ..
you can try setting JAVA_HOME to the jre relevant ( you said latest 1.8 ?)
Code:
export JAVA_HOME=`/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.6`
or
export JAVA_HOME=`/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.7`
or
export JAVA_HOME=`/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.8`
I still have this:

Please move /Applications/FlashTool.app/Contents/MacOS/firmwares content to /Users/Luca/.flashTool/firmwares

or this as root:

Please move /Applications/FlashTool.app/Contents/MacOS/firmwares content to /var/root/.flashTool/firmwares

any idea?

When he says move, do not copy and paste but Cut and paste into the new location and it works.
the old locations need to be empty. or Worked for me after i copied the files to the new location i renamed the folders to C:\Flashtool\firmwares.old
I had this error for 2 folders C:\Flashtool\firmwares and C:\Flashtool\custom\mydevices for both the folders chance the folder name to ".old" and it worked

But why was this change made, it was much easier to backup just one folder, now i have remember to backup the .flashTool folder as well

Ok I see many users having issues with moving firmwares and mydevices content to [User Home]/.flashool

When I say move, its move, not copy. The firmwares and mydevices folder HAVE to be empty or better, non existent.

Now to reply to guys saying why I do this now I have to save more places., I will say no. The only folder to save is the .flashtool folder where all user files go.

Why I did this ? User files place is user home, not app folder. It is better too in a multi user env. Now two instances of Flashtool in two different user profiles will be able to work together (not flash but at least create bundles, root and all other features except flash).

And when upgrading under linux or MacOS you can now absolutely safely remove Flashtool app folder without loosing anything.

There should be option to change .flashTool path.
I'm using SSD for C drive and no enough space for FTF...
It's inconvenient to copy FTF every time I need to flash
I will.

By the way, it is easy to change the home user folder to a traditional drive.
I have a SSD for C and a data disk on D and I switched my user profile to D :)

I deleted the /Firmware in C:\flashtool, no result. Gone back to .4, works brilliantly.

Thanks anyway!

Many thanks for your wonderful tool.
I'm using Linux Mint 17. At the moment, I can only flash if Flashtool is run as root. Any way to run as a normal user. Thank you.
In expanding on the .flashtool folder in the user/root directory. There will be a lot of moving files here and there. Thank you once again.

That is fine for Linux\Mc but for Windows it's an awful place and not even in a normal backup area - Documents could have been used but best make it a setup choice. As now it gives a damned lot of jumping around.

I think that this should be a question while installing Flashtool, and by default put the files in to the user files, but you still could change that location. If my windows is ****ed up by a virus or any other bad thing, then I could loose my firmware files, so i preffer to use another disk unit than the C: one.

I have always used an external drive for my firmwares.
Yes when you create one you have to move it or if the C drive but you have always been able to browse to where you keep FTFs and flash then then from wherever you have them stored in your computer.
A choice of the default user folder on installation would be a nice extra feature, but it is not essentials to me as it takes 3 seconds to browse to where i keep them and flash them from there.

It seems like Sony has changed the SIN format in their latest Android 5.0.2 TFT (23.1.A.0.690 for Xperia Z3 / Z3 Compact). Or it has to do with the EXT4 format being different under Android 5.X than EXT4 under 4.X ?
