Running FlashTool as root can cause headaches. Just install udev rules and run normally. (Or try xflasher)

Thats a game without end, seems selinux deny root access, look into dmesg!

Cheers I will try the udev rules first then I will give XFlasher a shot for sure. :good:
I have been trying to get a working TWRP on the Sony L1 but I think Sony screwed up the LK as Fastboot reports the fotakernel partition as ext4 which it is not according to all other checks (sgdisk etc)
I spent hours and hours before I noticed the error :crying: Flashed TWRP to the boot partition and bingo It worked first time.
Nobody can boot to recovery (even stock) unlike the rest of the Sony MediaTek device (C4 C5 XA XA1 E5) so I want to update the firmware to see if it was fixed or If my refurb unit was flashed using some odd firmware.
Not sure if Sony has tried to come up with some new and funky way of booting to recovery but don't see why they would deviate from the Norm
Just wondered if you had encountered anything this odd before.

What about flashing 9.0 Developer Preview on XZ2 with 0.9.25.0?
51.1..fsc should be OK, however there have to be some changes, eg. all "_X-FLASH-ALL-B6B5" ("a_X-FLASH-CUST-B6B5" from userdata) have to be removed from .sin names and there are no elable, fsmetadata and oem in 9.0.
Can it work?

Sorry if this has already been asked but I couldn't find the answer by searching the forum.

I downloaded a bunch of Sony firmware with flashtool+xperifirm and, upon exiting xperifirm, flashtool automatically bundled them into ftf files.

However, I lost those ftf files because my hard disk crashed. But i just realized that the Sony firmware files are still in the download folder, where xperifirm had saved them.

So now my question is: is there a way to trigger flashtool to recreate those ftfs again, using the existing files in the download folder? I know it can be manually done with the bundle option in the flashtool menus but I want to have flashtool automatically do it exactly the same way it did when exiting xperifirm. That's a more elegant way and it makes it unnecessary to manually enter the firmware version and device information for bundle creation.

I hope my question makes sense, and thank you for your help in advance.

Yes, all Flashtool did automatically can be also done by You. Under Tools menu there is Bundles submenu where You have FILESET Decrypt and Create options to choose.
If Your firmware consist of FILE_xxx files than use FILESET Decrypt to unpack them to .sin files. If there are .sin and .ta files, than use Create as it's already unpacked. Either way You need to show which folder You want to use.
If You use FILESET than after unpacking Flashtool will launch same window as Create does - there You have to choose model and wariant of Your device, branding and firmware version - first and last is important for devices with .fsc script as its usage is dependent of model and firmware version.

Thank you for your response. I was trying to avoid doing all of that manually.

I just found out that the trick to triggering flashtool to automatically generate the ftf is actually fairly simple: just delete a file named "bundled" in the firmware folder under C:\Users\user\.flashTool\firmwares\Downloads and then open and close xperifirm from within flashtool. The ftf generation will automatically start.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.

    [TOOL] [UPDATE 21/12/2016] Flashtool version 0.9.23.0 - Windows / Linux / Mac

    Hi,

I will take the lead on releases of this tool as Bin4ry will have less time to work on it.

For all flashtool informations (download links, changelog, screenshot gallery, FAQ, Firmwares repository) go to the Flashtool Homepage

Flashtool sources are on github : Androxyde repositories

WARNING : Since Xperia Z, sony added a new set of files I called bootbundle. Those files can be bundled from 0.9.13 and can be flashed from 0.9.13 only. To all those flashing devices from Z edition to all after Z, it is highly advised to use 0.9.13 and to be sure FTF you flash contain the bootbundle set. I've been reported of hard bricks because of missing such set of files from bundles.

I WANT TO GET YOUR ATTENTION ABOUT THE LATEST BRANCH 0.9.19. Without FSC, the tool will by default include simlock.ta if this file is present in the FTF. The result will be a bricked phone
As a workaround, until I release a patch, please please tick the exlude simlock.ta if you see it in the list.
0.9.19.6 fixes the simlock.ta issue. This file is by default excluded. Then it will not be flashed until you explicitely untick the exlcude simlock box. Do it at your own risk.
