Turn off the phone and remove it from the usb cabel, after that press the back button, and connect it to the usb, you'll see green light and you have few seconds to connect it to the flashtool.

Did you install the drivers in the drivers directory?

Yes it but it has some strangeness, but in apps it works fine, i tested in gangstar mv, and angry birds and will now test it in some fps's like nova modern combat and brothers in arms 2. In the browser it doesn't work, in opera mini - works.
yeah i always thought it should be mentioned in the original instructions. you need get the flashtool dialog box up, and press ok the second the green light goes on on the x10, or else the connection will just cause the x10 to reboot normally

are there any plans to bring out a Linux version of this?

i realise it may be a big job, but i find it ironic that i require a Windows PC to update my linux Based phone. i run ubuntu and my housemate is a mac fan.

can anyone point me in the right direction? i would really love to have MT on my phone but cant get near a Windows PC that has the right permissions to do this.

Have you tried running it under Wine or PlayOnLinux? I know that the program runs under PlayonLinux, but haven't tested communication yet.

FlashTool to be used for rooting only?

I'm a bit confused after reading through many threads. Hopefully someone can tell me if I've got the following right:

I'm running an original 2.0.A.0.504, on a X10. What I want to have is the Eminence ROM. What I now believe I have to do:

step 1. Root my X10 (got it a few days ago, so no userdata issues)
step 2. Backup APN (telecom settings) data, so I will be able to make phone calls and use internet/3G/HDSPA afterwards
step 3. continue as this guy says. (oops, not allowed to post links yet, but it is post number 2059098 on androidforums dot com.

My questions:
1. Can I use the FlashTool to do nothing but root my X10 (step 1)? It looks like the most convenient tool around. I understand that i must first install (and use) SEUS (sony ericson update service) to provide the right drivers.
2. If yes, is it unrootable?
3. Am I correct when I think that you cannot use this tool to flash custom roms like Eminence because they are not 'signed'?

Thanks for all your help.

Flashtool looks to work but nothing done

Hi there!

After some research in several posts, I tried the new flashtool 0.2.3 on my X10 Mini Pro U20a, but after the whole process when I reboot my X10, it has nothing done. do I am doing something wrong? my steps are:

turn off my phone
Run Flashtool
Connect button>x10mini pro
press back key
plug the USB
green light gets on,
Flash button with>X10a_2_0_2_A_0_24 Generic
then it says:

:-D try to install a windows XP in a virtualbox and run it in the virtual environment.
The tool works under linux BUT without the Flash task wich relies on a windows DLL where we do not have the source code. Maybe it can run with Wine ... never tested it.
But if you only have a linux box, virtualbox can be a solution.

I can't download it, because my virusscanner keeps saying it's dangerous, and deletes it:(
what virii scanner do you use? cuz every single one that i do own doesnt report this file.... so it must be that your scanner = failing u bigtime....

or.... its cuz ur to close to ab woensdrecht. LOL

oh for the virii scanner i recommend avira, since its free and got daily updates, so far never failed on me

p.s. the virii scanner probably detects its an exe, since its very easy to spread a virus by only downloading one, it probably get seen as a so called "dangerous/suspicious file".
so u could also just deactivate it before u download it.

The flashtool can do a root only task without any problem, as far as ADB drivers are installed (nothing to do with USB flash drivers which are the ones needed for flashing)
So if your phone is fully recognized when plugging it with USB debug mode on, the tool will work for rooting.
Any rom based on xRecovery are not flashable with this tool.

OK, the adb (android debug bridge) drivers, are they included in the FlashTool (I see two adbwin*.dll files are included), or should I get them elsewhere?

The adbwin*.dll are libraries used by the adb.exe command.

Open a command prompt and CD to the x10flasher_lib folder. Then issue an adb devices command. If the List of devices attached is empty, so your device is not seen by adb.
X10 ADB drivers are not included in the flashtool.
