flashtool 0.3.0 is having two files, kernel downgrade and kernel upgrade, do they also need to be flashed along with the stock 2.3 firmware?
You have to follow aZuZu root method which is :

flash 2.3.3 firmware, then boot and enable usb debugging. Then flash kernel downgrade, boot and once recognized in flashtool, go to advanced ->root->force psneuter. Then flash kernel upgrade and boot. you will be with a 2.3.3 rooted rom.

Hi, I just rooted my stock 2.3 and I am trying to use the Clean button of flashtool to remove some junk, but apparently it won't remove the apps. Is this feature not working on 2.3 or something is wrong here?

ps: If someone's got a list of apps/services that can be removed from 2.3, I would appreciate the help,I don't want to remove something and..you know..

Cheers

Thanks

A friend of mine came to me with a bricked Xperia X10i.
The Sony Ericsson PC Companion couldnt update nor repair it. Then i came across this thread, used the FlashTool version 0.3.0.0 with Generic version 2.3.3 build 3.0.1.G.0.75.
The phone works perfectly well now. Im just wondering, is this firmware an official release or where is the source of it?
I usually download my firmware files from Topsony.com but they didnt have the generic version, just branded for lots of countries and operators.

Yes it's official. It is decripted/bundled from SEUS/PCC downloded firmware files from blob_fs folder.

The rebrand function needs root access.

Sorry I missed this reply, thanks for the PM.
BusyBox update fails also, no error message just does not update. Tried the BB update apps, they do not work either.
On J's CM ROM or more generally on any rom with custom kernel having busybox in the ramdisk installed on /sbin will have this issue which is not really an issue.

BusyBox is rightly installed in /system/xbin. It is just not the first one invoked from the PATH variable as /sbin is before /system/xbin.

@Androxyde
actually when we have recovery in boot.img there will always be busybox in /sbin
thats done cause the recovery needs that busybox (actually that /sbin/busybox is symlinked to /sbin/recovery)

The 2 BB installer apps I have, both called BusyBox Installer (differentiate?) one tells me there is more than one copy no choice as to where. The other gives choice to install in either bin or xbin. Shouls they be set the same?

I have a quick question, i downloaded Flashtool 3.0.0. but my Norton told me it was a virus and windows says is not a valid Win32 application. Anyone knows what's going on?

I'm running Windows XP Media Centre (yeah i know it's old). I think that could be the problem.

You need to disable Norton. Don't worry, the flash tool is not malicious.

Yeah i disable it but Windows still gives me an error message, it's been a while since i flashed anything (2.1 firmware), but if i remember right Binary's flashtool needed to be extracted with Winzip, i'm using 7-zip and it doesn't work.
