Dan, long time no see. I haven't used it, so I can't be specific, but that IS the SW version others were using it for. When it gets to the S-off part, and links take you to dirty racun, 3.16 IS supported. 3.17 status is unknown, so don't take any OTA updates first.

Yeah, it's been a long while since I've been around. I was starting to get out of the Android world because of real world obligations towards the end of my OG Evo's lifecycle. It, very regrettably, just burned out after a while (perhaps too much beta testing :D ). Anyhow, got the EVO LTE, rooted it, and haven't touched it in that sense since then! Thanks for the response! I've been reading up on the new LTE world (seems like HTC is really trying to screw people out of S-off since I achieved that nearly two years ago). Now there's touch panel versions (that I understand nothing about), new hboots, no one clicks. Old timers like me have a hard time getting back into these old-er devices!

Also, are there any issues with hboot 2.09? I assume I'll need to downgrade at some point?

There is no need to downgrade your Hboot. Hit up the Hboot guide in my sig if you want to get caught up;)

Believe it or not Fin, I've actually read your write up while I was biking this evening. Very well done :good: . I'll actually be going back to it this weekend when I have time to root my phone, in case the rooting process references something I don't know. I'm mostly just researching right now and gathering resources for when I can sit down and root it.

My confusion is a bit more EVO LTE centric than general Android, I fear. Like, how can I check what touch screen I have/will it be compatible with AOSP ROMs, etc. Things of that nature. I feel like the search feature here has not gotten much better since I was more of the teacher! haha

Beta Test

Since this thread seems a little busier, could a few people test this beta version of the toolkit? It is the HTC One X+ version, but the EVO toolkit will have the same functionality included in the new update. Specifically see if the "My Phone" recognizes your phone and gives all of the correct information. Thanks!

Beta Test Completed.

Thanks:thumbup:

As far as knowing what touch panel driver you have, it depends on your software version. If you're on 3.16 prior to rooting then you have the updated driver; if you're on an older software version then you don't have the updated driver. If you have the updated driver you must use TWRP 2.4 or newer, and you can only use ROM's based off software version 3.16 (or AOSP ROM's with the 3.4 kernel). You can downgrade the driver to the previous version if you're S-off.

HTC dev unlock will unlock all hboots/firmware versions. Don't think anyone has tried S-OFF with 3.17 yet.

Used this last night to unlock my bootloader & root, & after spending like half a day trying to get fastboot to work on Windows 8.1 then finding out it doesn't & having to go back to Windows 8, I finally got it to work. Thanks for making this toolkit!

Would you mind taking a look at post #693 in the thread below and see if you can offer this guy some help?

i realize this should be easy as pie, but I get to the following command line and then it stops:

error: device not found

c:\Users\name\Downloads\WinDroid HTC EVO 4G LTE Toolkit 2.0 (1)\WinDroid HTC EVO 4G LTE Toolkit>

I never get the token ID or past this point.

what the heck am I doing incorrectly....?

I rooted shortly after the phone's release and it was nowhere near as convenient a process as this app makes it. Nonehteless, I have to post my thanks for providing the community with such a well done, usable tool.

I'm also having the same problem - error: device not found
I wish I could give you specifics. I simply kept closing out the different pop up instruction/status windows after several minutes of waiting and would eventually get one that said that step was a success, and then I'd move on. I wasn't happy that it was going that way, but in the end I got what I was after: rooted and able to run wifi tether. good luck, gents.
