I can not get this to work. Is someone willing to help me?

This is my first day with the Xoom, which is my third Android-device.

Any who: i'm able to get into fastboot and accept the warnings, like described. Then my XOOM reboots back into honeycomb and command prompt on my pc is only showing: waiting for device. Can someone please make me a step-by-step guide or tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Yeah, sorry if my solution sounds odd.
The thing is, that's what I did to get out of the issue. Sounds stupid but it worked.

My XOOM is messed up ATM, so I'll be reflashing GED and rooting. In a few minutes I'll be writing instructions and retrying what I did before just to make sure it wasn't just a fluke.

So, I'm ready to wipe my XOOM!
I'll be doing this with a US XOOM, however to do this you won't need a US XOOM.

download the files relative to your xoom region at motodev (I recommend US)
I'm downloading them now...I will add another reply when that's done downloading! :D

The files have downloaded. Rename the existing recovery.img to recovery.bak.img, because that's CWM. Now extract GED files into the XOOT directory.

Start the GED flasher. Ignore the warning that says "MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NOT A US XOOM". Now begin the flash!

As soon as that's done, do the OTA update.
Now that the flash is done, reboot your XOOM. Fill in the setup wizard when it appears.

Keep updating until you're at OTA 3.2.1

Now rename recovery.img to recovery.img2 and rename recovery.bak.img with recovery.img
First choose to root your device (I KNOW YOU HAVEN'T FLASH RECOVERY, JUST LISTEN).
When that's done, reboot normally and flash Recovery. As soon as that's done, restart into recovery. This will give the XOOM no chance to run the deflashing things.
Flash update.zip
Reboot system now
Rooted!

Well, that sounds like something i should be able to manage. :p

The only thing I really don't seem to able to figure out is what files to download? Yeah, I can see that you say GED-files for US XOOM, but I really can't find them at Motodev's webpage.

I'm really sorry for all the noob-ish questions, it is just that I'm used to simple one-click solutions where CWM and root is flashed in the same operation without me having to really do anything but watch.

Thanks again!

Okay! I've come a bit further now.

I've been trying to run Xoot on a Win XP machine. (Usually a Mac-user you see), and when i start Xoot, it just skips right past the first menu with the choice to choose other tweaks.

It takes me right to the part where you choose Bootloader-settings. I'll try and see if I get the same problems on Win 7. :)

Did you rename choice_xp.exe to choice.exe?

Yes, actually I did. Tried using Win 7 and the menu loaded just fine... In the end I just rooted it the old-fashioned way and now I'm running a overclocked Xoom with ICS. It is smooth as butter.

Thanks for your help anyway, I think it will need som polishing an possibly a GUI, but when that is fixed this will be a great tool for people who don't feel comfortable with command-prompt.

Keep up the great work man!

Did you have to use a QR code for the attachment? I had to download this to my tablet and then send it to my PC, kind of a hassle since you uploaded right here to XDA anyways...

There's no need to download with QR code. Click the link that says XOOT.zip, not the link that says 'Click for QR code'. It may not look it, but they are completely individual links ;)

Tried to follow the root instructions by flashing back to Motodev stock image for uk MZ604 then doing the ota updates then trying root 1st but it just fails Not sure where i am going wrong all i get is the Android ! image on the screen.
Maybe it's because we dont get 3.2.1 here in the uk just 3.2

Otherwise i like the tool it seems to try to do everything it should and it is quite easy to follow ....just doesn't work on my Xoom :(

The unlock worked fine it is just the CWM flash that fails and so I then can't ROOT.

Sorry but I have downloaded all files but just don't know to do...the instructions are not very descriptive. I am trying to unlock my UK wifi and install USA rom.
How do I do this?

It's not that, because I have a UK XOOM as well.
Did you restart into Recovery Mode as soon as the recovery flash finished? If you do it after a reboot, the stock recovery is flashed and you get that irritating error.

First open XOOT, choose == Bootloader settings ==
Unlock the bootloader. It's quite easy - just make sure USB Debugging is on in Settings -> Applications -> Development
Then close XOOT
First get the GED files from Motodev.
Then extract them into XOOT's directory.
Then just open XOOT and choose == Other tweaks ==, I believe it is.
Run the GED flashing thing and it'll take it from there. After that you have a stock 3.0 XOOM, just turn on USB debugging again if you want to root.
