Need your guys opinion. I have the next RAM update basically ready to go. I've noticed alot of people are wanting to go back to update 68 or jellybean, right now I have it setup with update 72 files tho. I could include an option for both but it would push the file to over 2 gigs. Should I only include update 72 or both? If you can emulate linux or have a linux machine you could always replace the files in the RAM package with whatever firmware you want and do it that way too. I don't know up you guys.

As long as your tool works with update 72, why not just include update 68? Or have a separate package with update 72. But definitely Jellybean, because the person can update to 72 and reroot if they want to.

Is 68 still the rom in the ram tool? Hoping so, since do not want 72. My Shield has 4.2 right now (what it shipped with).

Thanks!

You do know you root via recovery after the bootloaders unlocked correct? I got my shield, updated it to kitkat, unlocked the bootloader and flashed CWR, and flash the Super SU .ZIP via recovery and was rooted.

You need the proprietary binaries and device profile. Both should already be available as well.
Ah the proprietary binaries can be easily pulled via adb right, I don't know much about building from source but I used to build cm10.2 for my older device (p769). I have a build environment set up already on my laptop. If anyone is willing to guide me I'd be happy to assist in producing an aftermarket firmware for this device. Gotta learn somehow, till I get back to work I still got a lot of free time in my hands but I'm not entirely confident I could figure it all out alone. I'm still new to this.

I can't promise I'll get anything started, I've had trouble in the past figuring out some of the steps and quite a few distractions along the way.

You can download them from nvidia. I had started work on a custom rom, but my mom got sick, had to move, all kinds of crap came up.

I hope she's doing well, I just recent moved back in with my mother and siblings after living with le girlfriend for a while. Just settling in for now, I gotta find my comfort zone here where I'll work from.

I used Shield Ram to return back to stock so I could download and install update 77. I ran into a problem though, reflashing back to stock worked perfectly, but stock recovery won't work. I've tried reflashing it using option #3 in your program, and it says it was successfully installed, but if I try to go to recovery I get the dead android. Any idea what I may have done wrong or how to fix this?

Have you tried flashing a custom recovery, booting into it, then flashing the stock one again? You didn't have to return to stock, just flash the stock recovery by itself.

That is the stock recovery. I believe you have to press home and back, I cant quite remember. But there is a two button combination that will get the menu to popup.

Oh yeah, that's right. I'm just used to it automatically flashing the updates after you download them. So just let it download, then tap reboot to install. Reflash custom recovery, then flash SuperSU, and you're golden.

If it doesn't say there's an update, go to Settings/Apps/All, and find Google Services Framework, then clear data and cache. Then go to the system update settings and check again.

There is a three button combo to get you to the bootloader menu, but if I try to select Recovery mode I get the dead android. I can flash CWM no problem and get into that recovery, but any time I try to flash Stock recovery, it says it was flashed successfully but I get the dead android when I try to access it. So, CWM recovery works, but Stock Recovery will not work for me despite that it says it was successfully flashed.

Right about the 3 button combo, wrong about stock recovery. I'll give this 1 more try. That is the stock recovery with the dead android. You think its not working, it actually working just as it's supposed to. There IS a two button combination you can press once you get to the dead android to get the stock recovery menu to popup. My tool is working as intended. If need be ill make a video.

Shield Ram 1.1 Uploaded. Nothing huge for changes. I left update 68 embedded with all the people not wanting to update to kitkat.

Added a failsafe so if a wrong key is entered RAM closes instead of opening a random menu option
Removed some of the echoed user messages to try and speed the process up just a hair
RAM is no longer case sensitive either, for a Y/N question you can enter Y/N/y/n
Added koushs superuser app after a request for it

Hope you guys enjoy
