That's stock recoveryThanks. After selecting "Recovery", it has the green android guy lying down with chest open with a red triangle and exclamation point in the triangle. It says "No command." at the bottom.

No interface change, I just showed both interfaces in the OP. The one with lots of buttons is the advanced utilities interface. The main interface is still the familiar one and the advanced one now just has some more features. Thanks wug... Great work, notice you changed the interface... Right, just so you know.. there is a checkbox on that RSA prompt so you can have it always accept adb connections from you machine. Glad to hear it worked well for you. Cheers. You are the man WUG!!!!
It just worked !! But sometimes you need to plug devie out and in again to get the RSA promt![]()
Make sure you are specifying the correct device and build in the toolkit. Maybe you have a Nexus 7 3g version? Or you are selecting the wrong build? You can always use 'Any Build' mode for your device instead to root it, but I have a Nexus 7 and I can assure you it works if you specify the correct device and build in the toolkit.Ive been having fits with my nexus 7 devices that I have been rooting.
this latest 1.6.3 will unlock (a couple of attempts) but when I get to root, it goes into bootloader fine, says its sending over files. then I get "rooting instructions"pop up. Team win recovery project stuff.
?? What is this? I never get another screen. The nexus is stuck on the bootloader screen says "booting downloaded image" and that screen never goes away. buttons dont do anything, unpluggin it does nothing. a very long hold of the power button will finally restart it.
Ive tried 1.6.3 on both 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 both have the same result. have also restored to factory. same result.
Any help?

Other things to try would be reinstalling drivers, trying an alternative usb port, or if you wan't, just use 'Any Build' mode instead.
