Here is my problem... When I download the program and start it (After selecting my model/build) I get the screen that says how to enable usb debugging on your 4.3.0 device. I enable debugging mode and uncheck MTP under usb connections and then plug in my tablet.

When i do that, I see the driver software installation window comes up showing Nexus 7 and it searches and then gets a red X that says no driver found.

What am i doing wrong here? I've rooted/done this to many different phones but cannot seem to get a stupid driver installed on this?

Any help is appreciated.

get android naked driver http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875 , unpack it, get into device manager. You will see a adb device with question mark, click it, update driver and choose the directory manually. If you get an error about not certified drivers, install anyway.

To further elaborate.

I went ahead with the Nexus Root Toolkit v 1.72 by Wug. At the top it has full driver installation guide - automatic and manual.

I followed the steps there and used the option 1 recommended (koush universal driver). When i installed that and then tried testing it step 3, it tells me ADB device not found.

So when i go into device manager, i don't see anything under ADB with a question mark. All i see is Nexus 7 with a yellow exclamation point under "other devices".

Any thoughts?

Yeah, right click on that Nexus 7 in Device Manager.
In Device Manager --> right click on Nexus 7 --> Update Driver Software--> Browse my computer for driver software --> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer --> (ignore anything from the list,) Have Disk --> Browse to where you've unzipped the Google usb driver --> select and Open android_winusb.inf --> OK (to close Install From Disk prompt) --> highlight Android ADB Interface --> Next --> ok any warning messages.

Now that I'm unlocked and rooted I can't get MTP to come up so I can move stuff to my device from my computer. I've unplugged and plugged the device in and can't get it to come up on the computer. Suggestions?

You can just download the newest twrp img and then use, custom recovery in the options menu to flash the newest twrp.
Thats what I just did and it worked perfect.
Now to find a rom to use...
I flashed the newest TWRP and it broke root and when I tried to re-root it froze so I went back to the 6.0.0 version. Could've been a fluke.

Hey Guys,

I'm on stock 4.3 - just had a quick question.

If I root my stock software, will I still receive OTA updates when it comes out? I'll just have to re-root once the OTA is installed?

Cheers

On the last update it did not work for me. I got OTA but it failed to update. I ended up flashing it manually from the kit, but you lose your data, need to reinstall or keep a backup.Of course you need to re-root after. Not sure, maybe this problem is fixed now, may have something to do with TWRP version used.
