"Touch-disable mode" switch disappeared after Oreo update?

Hello!

I'm using the P10 Plus and I'm not able to find the setting for Touch-disable mode anymore. (I'm pretty sure it was there on previous android version)
This "Touch-disable mode" setting seems to be always on, after Oreo update.
It could be cool for everyday use, but it's a BIG problem when I like to put the phone into a plastic case/bike phone holder.
I get the message "do not cover the top of the screen..." and I'm not able to unlock the smartphone from the case.
That's soooooo annoying!!

Does anyone know a workaround for this issue??

Thank you very much!

When you lock your phone you try to cover the top part tgen you'll see on display says disable it pressing power and volume up I think.
Tnx, I know, but when the device is in a motorbike holder ( like my Givi S957B ) it's quite impossible to press power and volume up...

I'm just asking why in oreo firmware the "touch-disable mode" is not available anymore.

For me it's a big issue!

Cover the top of the phone e while it's locked before you put it tin the holder. You can switch it off

Came on here as had the same problem. I found that if you tap volume up and power button 3 times it disables or enables it. It doesn't work anyway, if you accidentally press the fingerprint scanner in your pocket, it unlocks the phone and you end up changing all your settings and calling a porn line all from your pocket.

Could you explain better?
I've tried everything...
combination of volume up and power 3 times doesn't work for me.

power+volume up just disables it for that single time...even if i make this combination for 3 or more times...

I just found the solution. Hallelujah!

Download the Settings Database Editor app on Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by4a.setedit22

In the System Table screen, scroll down to the bottom towards the 'T' section and find "Touch Disable Mode 1". Tap on it and change it to 0 to turn it off and hit save.

Please thank if it works for you ?

The above worked for me about 3 weeks ago on my P20 Pro.

I had an update to the phones os last week, now it's reverted back to not liking the sensor being covered when I have the phone in my running armband.

The "Touch Disable Mode" option has disappeared from the System Table section of Settings Database Editor. Most annoying!

Hey
So I installed the Setting Database Editor app to change the setting and then uninstalled it to see if the change would persist without the app - it did not, so I went and reinstalled the app but also found that the "touch_disable_mode" setting was missing so I added it manaually and its working :) ...no more annoying message about nonsense.

P.S. Why does this website not work at all with Firefox?(no idea the pain I've been through trying to sign in) - Am I the only one -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/website-firefox-register-login-t3827822

Wow dude you are my lord and savior 🙏👌 worked perfectly! That's a shame on Huawei's side, that they have forgotten about this absolutely ridiculous setting.. I use my bike holder, I'm a delivery person and this really annoyed the **** out of me
