I don't really want to link the site here for fear of repercussions or a horde of people yelling about their bad experiences, but, witrigs
I've recently changed my phone's screen with their replacement parts, as well as a new battery (from Ebay). As battery change requires display reassembling anyway, I decided to swap those things at once. It took some time to get the parts installed, and I didn't quite like the supplied adhesive "plate" much (universal adhesive stripes worked better for me before with other phones). After all, I got a shiny new screen, no glitches anymore for a week already, and the battery seems to store more juice. As there are not many really better alternatives to the XZ2c in its class still, I can recommend this approach to those who have the ghost touch issues.

the ghost touch moved lower and now it doesnt pull down the notification bar and now it´s way less annoying, and it could as well be happening less often, which makes me realize this is a hardware issue, nothing to do with software.

Tried to disable glove mode via developer menu / check background - did not help.
Tried to push both sides towards each other near the camera button and hold them steady - helped.
Looks like the screen is not glued properly to the frame after 2.5 years and several falls. Will try to replace the screen.

UPD:
Brought the phone to the service. Serviceman tried 2 spare display modules with no luck. He said it's a main board malfunction and it would be better to buy a new phone and save budget.

Hi everyone.

Exactly same issues. I've searched on the Web and found no solutions. I have installed other roms even downgrade and the issue was still there.

So I concluded a hardware issue and I have just replaced the screen yesrerday. I am just trying it now and it seems to work well. Hopefully it is very easy to do.

Good luck

I'm just another person with the same issue. I had it since day 0 on all of the OS versions. Recently after moving to a different country I noticed it happens more in a cold environment. I'm almost sure it's a HW issue, but I don't know which part is affected. It might be the screen, might be the touch controller. I'll be looking forward to seeing others try replacing the screen and if that helps.

Seeing all this evidence that this glitch is hardware-based is confusing. I've had this problem on my Compact for a long time and discovered (in another forum) that replacing my screen's oleophobic coating resolved it, but only temporarily. I put a screen protector on for the first time (it's matte, just because that's my preference) a week ago and it hasn't glitched once since. I don't see any indication of my screen separating in the lower left corner or anywhere else. 🤷🏻‍♀️
