I gotta agree that unless the physical specs are much better...such as a processor on steroids, I am quite happy with my TP2.

I like the solid feel, I absolutely LOVE the physical keyboard...and I am perfectly happy with 6.1 as it is super stable (even though 6.5 is prettier). My only complaint is the processor...I want a processor on crack!! Give me that while keeping all the faboo things about the TP2 and I may consider getting a TP3...otherwise, no way!!

As for WinMo7...not impressed with the info out there about it...sounds like a step backwards!!
tp3 gotta have the keyboard, touch screen only gets old pretty fast. i just got my tilt 2 not too long ago, this past tuesday specifically; it sucks to hear of the tp3 coming out in the summer with a faster proc and slimmer, but o well you know.

if i had the ability to trade up like from apple has done, then i just might do it.

well the TERA looks more like a cheaper version of the TP2 just a tad bit faster? i duno i love the idea of a TP3 cuz as we all agree a hard keyboard is half of the reason why we wanted the phone.. as for right now the only other phone i dare get is a HD2 other than that i can wait... MOS DEF could care less about WM7 windows always takes about 2 years b4 sumthin new they release works correctly

I think the new TP3 will have at lest a 3.6” screen. Of course, same layout keyboard that made the TP2 famous for, and maybe a little slimmer. They’ll get rid of the Qualcrap they used for 3 generations, put a decent CPU, more RAM and a better camera. We may not see amoled/ capacitive/ moultitouch and WinMo 7, but hope for a more customizable TouchFlo interface…

TP2 was a major disappointment for me because of OS, underpowered processor
if the memory/proc specs were better on the TP2 i would upgrade from a tilt. The serious lacking of internal memory in the TP2 is the same issue i'm facing with my Tilt... at the moment i'd rather stick it out with android on my tilt and wait until the HD3 comes out which is pretty much a very small netbook lol

I'll wait for Windows Phone 7... or an Android phone with the Touch Pro2's awesome keyboard.

I recently came back to Windows Mobile after spending almost a year with the iPhones and I have to say the sluggishness and lockups in Windows Mobile 6.5 is still annoying. The advantages still outweigh the negatives of Apple's walled garden though.

I for one will withhold judgment of Windows Phone 7 until the final release.

I agree that the TP2 is underpowered and more could have been done with it but it was still a nice step up from the TP/Fuze. I would like to keep this keyboard which is the best out right now and maybe go with the 3.8" screen from the HD & Nexus 1. Maybe not Capacative or anything to keep cost down but a full size resistive.

If you look at the TP2 there is mor room to stretch the screen, a little longer and a little wider would be perfect. And I agree about the underused zoom bar, it's almost a waste of space there.

So yeah, 3.8" screen, 600-1024mhz processor (snapdragon if we are lucky enough), 1gb internal storage (wishful thinking), 488mb RAM, 5mp Camera with dual LED flash, and keep the same awesome keyboard, that would be a worthy successor and competitor for the upcoming super-phones

give me a capacitive touch screen with 3 buttons and wp7 capable and I'm all over that!

I constantly think about dropping my touch pro2, but this darn keyboard is the best in the business IMO. I couldn't give it up unless something can show me at least a comparable keyboard. Also, with Android steadily making its way, it'll be the best phone for me. Anyone got a suggestion as to what can get this touch pro2 outta my hands?

After looking at the specs in post 20, I do not have any desire to buy a TP3 over a TP2. I am surprised HTC is not looking at a Pro version of the Leo. (I hope it is in the works) Now a Leo Pro with Windows 7 is something I feel is a great business phone.

I'm not crazy about WP7, at least the initial release of info. They've killed everything that was great about WinMo and opted for the locked-down, iPhone-like, walled garden approach. I'd love a TP3 with WM6.5.3, more RAM, and a Snapdragon processor...and US 3G bands.
That pretty well sums it up for me too. The ONLY thing that gives me pause about my TP2 is the unfortunate lack of snapdragon. If it had WP7 on it (and MS is in fact doing with it what they appear to be doing -- locking it down), I'd just as soon wait for a decent android handset.

For me it would be at least 4 inches screen and of course the hardware keyboard. I could do with a faster processor, but if the above needs were satisfied i could do with the qualcom easily. Actually i was flirting the Leo, but decided that my hardware keyboard is irreplaceable so i'm sticking with my rhodium unless another model comes into play.

stylus?

I need a phone with a stylus so I can take down handwritten notes and site drawings/measurements. With the apparant death of WM6x I'm not sure what I'll buy next. The Tera looks like a step down as I need a decent sized screen and Android/iphones/WM7 dont have styluses nor decent handwritten notes apps (like phatnotes). I know thousands of engineers that use the styluses for various applications. Who's going to cater to us now with everyone trying to make a multitouch zoom twittering app store toting fashion phone. Leo with hard keyboard and a stylus for me plz.

This is a very interesting post. It started with a speculation but nothing has been confirmed by anyone. Is the TP3 really due out this year or next? What are the real specs? If that is the memory and processor, really not a major reason to see this as an "upgrade" Some photos show it with a keyboard, some without and very slim. So, which is it? Very curious.
