Touch wiz

I feel like I am in an extreme minority of people that love touchwiz. I used to have a droid with stock ui, a droid 2 with blur, and have extensively used sense on family members phones and touchwiz by far blows them out of the water... There are a lot of intuitive features I can't believe I lived without like setting controls on the notification bar and a redial button after calling. I also find it much more aesthetically pleasing than other UIs, and really does SAMOLED justice with its vibrant colorization.

What do you folks think?

I actually like touch wiz too, I've used adw and launcher pro and I keep going back to touch wiz. I'm using the one from the vibrant from this forum somewhere because I couldn't stand the app drawer not being in alphabetical order lol. But since I have that version, I love it.

I can't stand that either! Are there any disadvantages though? I thought vibrant users couldn't uninstall apps from the tray (another feature I love, no more waiting for application data to load from the settings screen, which is a major time sink).

the U.P.
I've been hooked on touchwiz since my omnia 2. I've tried the moto droid, and found it much less pleasant to use, and found htc's ui unpleasant, as well.

I never tried it, I'm not sure if it works that way or not - actually I didn't know you could on the fascinate version either lol.

Yeah just click menu, edit, and a minus sign appears on each app...

Exactly! Jsut came back from an eris, droid 1, and evo. Touchwiz is by far the best one for me... also I noticed on sense there were a lot of glitches like when someone would call me their id would show a toally different facebook friend as their picture lol

I thought I was the only one... I rooted tried a couple of roms but I end up back to touch wiz.... it works wonders... now if we can get a froyo version of touch wiz I would be happy... anybody know where I can get the touch wizard from the vibrant to this one so that my apps can be in order

I've had the Fascinate since it was released and have tried every home replacement, but they have never lasted more than a couple of hours at the most. TW has great widgets, is very responsive and like someone said, without those backgrounds on the icons, it looks nothing like an i*hone interface.

I'm really looking forward to both the froyo and gingerbread ports that birdman and kaos are working on, but I have to say that I will miss TW.

.....

@chopper.....Hey...is that single clock/date/weather widget on your homescreen?
it looks really good.
I hope un-rooted phone like mine can have one.

TW ftw!

It's fun pulling the apk's and changing the icons. And when the icon backgrounds and replaced with blank files the app drawer doesn't look like that apple thing anymore.

good day.

I don't use TouchWiz, but I would agree it's actually not bad at all as a launcher. Obviously, the Fascinate version has some problems (no Google Search widget etc.) but the Vibrant version is pretty darn good. I even like TouchWiz's taskbar more than the regular Android style. And some features, like the ability to re-sort homescreens, are fantastic (an almost identical method was implemented later on in ADW).

Some of Samsung's TouchWiz extras, on the other hand, are truly terrible. Like their "SNS Sync", which is slow and buggy and unnecessary when the official Facebook and Twitter apps come with their own, flawless in-app sync capabilities. Yet, inexplicably, TouchWiz disables their built-in sync abilities so you're stuck with Samsung's implementation. That right there is the single biggest reason I can't wait for an AOSP ROM.

P.S. maturate: That clock/weather widget looks like the one from Beautiful Widgets, an app available on the Market. It's just a regular app, doesn't matter if you're rooted.

EDIT: It could also be Fancy Widget, actually. The cloud graphic is identical to Beautiful Widgets', though, so I'm guessing it's that.

I used TouchWiz for a long time before I finally moved in to adw. I actually like the Vibrant version of TouchWiz more and ran it on my fascinate for a while. I posted the apk in the theme app forum. I liked their vertical scrolling app drawer more.

Most of the problems with TW launcher are fixed in gtg's modded version (see i9000/Captivate forums).

Unfortunately, it only works with Froyo.

My launcher of choice is Go Launcher.

Touchwiz for me was way to laggy. It seemed to be in slow motion compared to mine now. Mainly scrolling through screens.

I'm on Kaosinate, and I do miss TouchWiz. I hated it at first, but now, I think it's the best manufacturer UI. It looks iPhone-y, sure, but it has tons of cool little features and animations that make a difference. And it's smooth. Is it even possible to use TW on Kaosinate?
