actually we were able to do it from much earlier versions of 4EXT. I was doing it without any problems. Yes, 4.4

Something odd happened, a while ago when I rooted my phone I installed 4ext via cwm, anyway recently I tried flashing a new ROM and its like I never had any recovery installed. When I try to go to recovery its like stock where it shows the arrows above a phone and does nothing else. I haven't done anything recently to change it and am s-off on viper s 3.1.2 and have 4ext full version. Thanks

Sorry at the risk this being a stupid question, but I do use the fastboot command to do this correct? Also do you know what I did to have this happen in the first place, to avoid doing this again?
Yeah you can do it manually via fastboot, or just download the 4ext apk to do the dirty work for you. http://www.4ext.net/get.php?apk It's the easiest way to update it whilst inside a ROM. Recovery corruptions are purely random, guess you were unlucky.

Hi Sensation / XE users,

Just to bump the thread, as a new version of 4EXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.6 RC1 is now available as of 31/12/2013 and all finally packaged up early morning 01/01/2014 so thanks for this at New Years!

To get your hands on the recovery.img, download 4EXT_Recovery_Touch_v1.0.0.6_RC1.zip using the 4EXT Apps.

The Free 4EXT Recovery Updater v2.4.6b App.
Or the Paid 4EXT Recovery Control App.

Version v1.0.0.6 RC1 is required for the Android 4.4 KitKat ROMs and GAPPs.

Here is the changelog for 4EXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.6 RC1.
- Based on the rock solid v1.0.0.5 RC9
- Added support for SELinux needed by some Android 4.4 roms.

Big thanks to the following testers:
Papete, Dtr204, CChako, and Kingmook!

Hope the above helps!

Happy KitKat Testing,

Rob.

This is great, and I was able to figure out how to use this, but, I had great trouble finding information on this post what the latest version is, so I thought I had the latest 4Ext installed, but I didn't. Second, I had trouble finding details on how to install the download. I ran the app while at work, and just did the download. I tried to install from recovery and while running android but could not install. I read through pages of this thread, and finally ran the app again and performed the download and install.
So, it would have helped me if the first post listed the latest version and "to install run app and click the install button at the bottom".

Thanks again.

PS: I could not figure out how to install from Fastboot, so a picture or more detailed instructions would be great, too!

Having the newest build on my phone now. Works indeed much faster as the one that i had before (old version v1.0.0.3 RC1 pre-release testing 6).

Thanks madmax82! :good:
