Yup, finally I did it after 5-6 tries. Thanks for this tutorial guys :)
I did also some s8 apps from apk mirror by this same method and succeeded :)
So glad that this worked! What a crazy trick eh? Haha! I'll be sure to add it to the OP when I get a chance. :)
Anyone know how to make this launcher to have infinite scrolling?
This is a feature that I'm always badly in need of too. I even went into the apk and enabled page rotation, but it still doesn't work, which seems to indicate that it might be a bit more complicated to tweak. I may look at this a little bit more when I get the chance, though, at present, I'm not entirely certain what I would need to do to make it work.

I think the problem is though that the newer TouchWiz versions are set up to have infinite page rotation disabled because of the swipe left to open "Flipboard", "Bixby", etc. feature.

In short, it either works or it doesn't. For those it doesn't work for though it would seem you are in the minority. To determine more than that I would probably need to start receiving A LOT more information from people who are having trouble, like:

- What is the specific error you are getting when trying to install the apk?
- What is your device model #?
- What version of TouchWiz does it say you currently have in "Application Info"?
- Are you on Nougat or Marshmallow?
- Are you rooted or not?
- Are you on stock firmware or a custom rom(and which one)?
- Is your rom TouchWiz based or is it AOSP, CM, Lineage, etc.?

- Have you tried installing the apk with a system app installer/uninstaller(like the one I mentioned in the 3rd post above)?

↑↑↑ THIS GOES FOR EVERYONE HAVING ISSUES. THANKS! ↑↑↑
It doesn't work. It shows that a conflicting package is already installed.
I have a Samsung Note5 N920C.
The TouchWiz is at version 5.8.30.
I am running on the latest firmware, Nougat.
I am not rooted.
I am on stock firmware.
My stock Samsung ROM is based on TouchWiz. (Of course)
I cannot use the system installer/uninstaller as I am not rooted.

If the package conflicts, then did you try this?

Edit: This above link is actually for the Parse error and only if you're rooted. My bad. For the conflicting package error see post #29 below.

Nah, still doesn't work and I don't think it will any time soon without root. Thanks for the help anyways.

Sorry. I referred you to the wrong comment. Was thinking of a different error. The conflicting package error has actually been solved with this crazy trick where you try to install the app right away on system startup before the device actually realizes what you're trying to do.

To do this quickly enough you need to:

1)
Change your lock screen to swipe.
2) Place a shortcut to the apk on the desktop for quick access.
(For more info on how to do this just READ THIS.)
3) Reboot the device.
4) Unlock the screen immediately on startup and try to install from the shortcut.

It worked for this guy here after 5-6 tries, but it could take even more.

You just have to be quick and will have to try again and again after reboot until it works. Good luck! :)

Works good . But you need to fully uninstall the touchwiz or use apk editor to change the package name to get it to work .
Possibly for some of the Sprint devices and some of the devices on Marshmallow yes, but certainly not for most. Most should be able to just install, especially after everyone gets the Nougat update. :)

Thanks a lot for the help! Worked for me on the first try! It looks very nice. Thanks! I'll be off to do the same for other s8 apps! :D

1- There were only 2 steps in the OP. 1 was backup. 2 was install. Guess you missed step one? Without root or a backup all I can think of for you to try is to extract the old TouchWiz apk file from the old stock firmware, the newest Nougat update from your service provider or a stock based rom for your device and see if it will actually install and revert back. If that doesn't work you might be looking at actually flashing back the whole stock firmware in Odin to get it. You can get it from sammobile.com and it should still keep all your data while restoring all the original system stuff.
2- No. It only updates the app.
3- What menu are you talking about? If you just want to change colors just try a lighter theme from the theme store.
4- I haven't experienced any lag myself. In fact, the new TouchWiz is super fast.

Thank you. This answers clearly enough. ?

Hello, was wondering, can I use your app and place it in priv-app folder, so it is installed at first boot with the sys?

Also, is the apk already deodexed and zipaligned?
