I'm already on NF1, can I downgrade, root and update without losing data and installed apps?

My plan is:
1) Use Odin to flash NE6 to existing NF1 (with apps)
2) Towelroot
3) Use Mobile Odin to flash to NF1.

If this works, what should I choose in Mobile Odin e.g. keep root AND / OR SuperSU Survival mode?

Just saw a post that it is possible but need to flash boot loader after upgrading back to NF1.... How do I extract the boot loader on NF1? I'm using a different firmware (international)

Might wanna check if wifi calling still works just incase you use that feature. It'll just keep enabling but won't fully enable. This is one reason I went back to ne6

Wifi calling is working on nf1 with root. You can take out sim card when you update from ne6 to nf1 with odin mobile.

I hate all these pieces of information. ..

I'll bet you just hate that they're not all organized into one post. What works using what method and what not? It's all good. I'm just coming to the T-mo Note 3 from the 2 on Sprint and everything I've read in this thread so far makes me glad I did.

Can't wait to try this out.

I did notice some people asking questions like what's the big deal with the Knox counter. Wasn't a big deal on Sprint but seems like a big deal with this carrier. As I understood it, it really only mattered to Samsung. They initiate baseband lock still. Why is it still such a big deal?

Hey guys! Could somebody enlighten me regarding updating my phone. I rooted my phone using rootdelavega way back last year and it's still on 4.3 MI7.
Can I use this method to update directly to NE6?
Thank you in advance

Confirm working: TowelRoot rooted stock NE6 build. knox warrenty void 0x0

Confirm: upgraded to bone stock NF1 build from NE6 while keeping root same root.

How?: I Used this guide to upgrade from NE6 to NF1 while keeping my root...
Keep root on T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 running N900TUVUDNF1 software

Follow instructions WORD-FOR-WORD!

Towel root works and lets me keep my warrenty! I can also odin back to original ne6 of nf1 as if nothing happened and keep warrenty at 0x0 and system status: Official

crap!!!!

I bricked my device at the NIN and Sound Garden concert last night because i wasnt paying attention. Anyway when i flashed with odin i accidently flashed the NF4 july 19th....ive tried flashing just about every stock firmware on sammobile i could get my hands on. Nothing works. Just boot loops the tmobile logo. When i re-flash the NF4 its like nothing happened. My phone is EXACTLY how it was before the flash. Only thing is i lost root and cannot reroot with towel root or framaroot. Now before i bricked i did a back up of everything with titanium as well as with rom manager. I just do not know how to restore those back ups. I believe it backed up the rom and kernel. If only i knew how to restore. And im sure someone here will be able to guide me the right way...but my next logical question would be if that would even work with NF4. Please advise.

Need some help plz

Just got a new replacement from T-Mobile. Phone came with NCB4 i did Kies update to F1. Than odin back to NE6 did full root. Knox still at 0x0.

Now i am trying to get updated to latest F1 with full root and knox 0x0

I followed this instruction but with no luck.
http://www.andromods.com/root-unlock/knox-safe-tmobile-galaxy-note-3-nf1-rooted-volte.html

1. Extract the NF1 firmware, then copy the ‘tar.md5′ to your sd card.
2. Run the Mobile ODIN Pro and scroll down to ‘Open file…’.
3. Here’s some options you should enable prior to flashing, ‘inject root’, ‘mobile odin boxes’ and ‘reboot to download mode after flashing’.
4. Once flashing completes and your phone boot into download mode, connect it to your computer.
5. Now run Odin3 desktop version, we use v.3.09 with only the reboot and update boot loader boxes are ticked.

I am getting stuck at #5

If some one have a screen shot of odin at step #5

Note: After completing instruction i ended up with F1 firmware and no root. i had to flash back to NE6 and root again. ( Dint trip knox and still on 0x0)

Thank you in advance.

NF4 is out. Get files and instructions here (post 1 and 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...900tuvudnf4-extracted-stock-firmware-t2834398

BTW, Do this with SIM removed. It is known to solve some problems with Wifi Calling.

Confirm: nf4 update rooted with injected root using mobile odin pro and then odin v3.09 to flash the csc.tar.md5 file to finish up the proccess. originally rooted in ne6 using towelroot. Easy right?

Again here is the original instructions for doing this entire proccess.

http://www.andromods.com/root-unlock/knox-safe-tmobile-galaxy-note-3-nf1-rooted-volte.html

Please find in the xda note 3 tmobile forum the NF4 update "csc_tar.md5" file to use in that guide. You will need it for your phone to work after mobile odin pro is done doing it thing.

Those who upgraded from NE6 to NF4, fit questions for you:

1. Any improvement in cell site handover? In NE6, when the phone radio connect tk a new cell site (handover ftom the previous one), I lose data, even though I got full bar and 4GLTE icon. Had to do Airplane mode or, in some cases, reboot the phone. Tested this throughout Northen CA and Nevada.

2. Anything breaks, since this is just injection mode instead of the normal ROM upgrade?

I upgraded last night so haven't gotten enough time with it but I'm hoping it did fix this annoying issue. It usually happens when I get to my house from work. I'll let you know my results tonight.

FYI, I am currently in Las Vegas and boy... did the NE6 modem sucks big time!!

I got full bars almost everywhere, even inside the hotel, casino, etc. I got 4G icon. ZERO DATA. When I do get data and the phone connects to another cell site, BOOM! No data. I also have an iPhone (for work), use T-mobile too and absolutely no issue.

I really hope NF4 fix this. This is just unacceptable...

So geohot announced last night that he has rooted 4.4.2, its specifically tailored to the S5's with locked bootloaders, but he states it should work on all devices with a kernel older than June 5th (Our latest update, NE6, is dated May 19th).

He also states it shouldnt trigger knox, but he makes no guarantees.

Its also just an apk which is awesome.

Im feeling bold today, so if nobody else gets around to testing it on the tmobile note 3, ill be testing it in a few hours on my lunch.

    http://towelroot.com/
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157

RESTATING OBVIOUS: this isn't my work, all credit goes to geohot, I'm merely linking to it as our phone meets the criteria and should theoretically work works.

    UPDATE

Worked without a hitch... Just make sure to install the latest SuperSU (download the zip from chainfires website, and extract SuperSU.apk from common)... It's newer than the play store version.
    SuperSU zip:
    http://download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip

The play store version of SuperSU has been updated and should work fine now.

    1) run towel root ("make it rain"), it will reboot automatically
    2) immediatly after reboot, install latest SuperSU (before you run it)
    3) run SuperSU, let it update binaries, it will freeze on disabling knox
    4) reboot again, run again, disable knox will be successful.

    IT DID NOT TRIP KNOX

Just to clarify, this device is a virgin (never been rooted before) running the latest NE6 update...

Restoring to stock (/w nothing tripped) should be as easy as flashing the stock NE6 tar via odin.

    UPDATE 2
I can confirm by reply's here, as well as actually trying it on a friends phone that is is not working for NB4, but works perfectly fine on NE6

If you have taken the over the air and lost root, this is what I did.

Downloaded the ne6 and the f1 from Sammobile. Odin'ed back to ne6, rooted again with towelroot. Then downloaded Mobil Odin, flashed the f1 firmware with that, selecting everroot, clicking the boxes to inject supersu and Mobil Odin while flashing.

Worked perfectly. I'm on full f1baseband and fully rooted. Knox 0x0.

On Note 3 Tmobile NB4, never rooted, installed Towelroot, rebooted, and installed superSU, when tried to load Super User I get this message,

"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"

    Please help!!

I initially tried on NB4 but had the same issue, updated to NE6 with Samsung's Kies app and then tried again and it worked fine.

Just a heads up that towel root will not work with the NF1 update, so if you need root, do it prior to updating.
