You are correct Fatserfix...no clue why I called it fastfix...I just thought i missed something when that guy told me "If you look at the comments in the script it's self explanatory"..Obviously hes on the wrong post or something, I thought I was missing a script somewhere..Thanks I will be giving it more tests today

Another satisfied mate :) it's fine if the faster fix doesn't work. The most important part is to change the gps.conf according to the file I provided :)

Another satisfied reader! Thank you!
I use my desire's gps 7 hours per day for work. Did the steps on thunderstorm weather and about 10-15s to get fix! :)

Noob Question

When I try to edit gps.conf file in root explorer I am unable to change the r/o to r/w using the button. It works in the parent directory but when I change to /etc it won't goto r/w. Hitting the button changes to blue for a second but never changes the r/o. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I used ES File Explorer and it worked fine. Not sure whats up with my root explorer

You weren't kidding give it a day or so

Toshiba THRiVE is working awesome now, even getting pretty darn fast fixes indoors now. I don't know why it took a day or two for it to Kick in but WOW its Ridiculously faster outdoors, and I seldom if ever got a lock indoors Thanks....

PS Ever find out what Faster Fix Actually Does? Seems like this should be in Our Custom Roms for the THRiVE, so I wanted to ask.

Maybe reinstall or delete the entry in Superuser. I had something similar happen and despite being permitted in SU, it still didn't truly have SU permissions and there were some weird quirks occurring.

Glad ES File Explorer worked though!

"Good things come to those wait" :D
Luckily we try it for few more days, thanks for your patience:)
It only change the gps.conf (so actually we can skip the first stage of my tweak)
and happy to know it works

well, on my sgs2 mine had

NTP_SERVER=uk.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com
SUPL_PORT=7276
should it then be?:

NTP_SERVER=uk.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=0.uk.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_2=1.uk.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_3=2.uk.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_3=3.uk.pool.ntp.org

help?
You say in the OP
Make sure the permission of the file is rw-r--r--
I don't get that..
On Root Explorer it has
* = check sign
_= not checked
User ***
Group ***
Others *_*

As far as I understand it (and it works for me) this is to be read from top to bottom and from left to right, meaning:

User: Read Write
Group: Read
Others: Read

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Besides that: As far as I understand it, you can simply download the modified text file, change the server adresses to suit your location and put it in /etc with said permissions and correct filename, the old file can be renamed so something like BAKgps.conf so you can restore the file to normal if you think something went wrong or if it doesn't do anything for you.
At least that's all I did, and it seems to work. So… the whole fasterfix thing seems to be redundant.

(Extra info: Used FileExpert on HTC Desire / MIUI XJ 1.9.2 GB 2.3.5, root, S-OFF)

Thanks for the trick, works fine :)
