help?
You say in the OP
Make sure the permission of the file is rw-r--r--
I don't get that..
On Root Explorer it has
* = check sign
_= not checked
User ***
Group ***
Others *_*
In the root explorer, choose the gps.conf and hold until the menu appear. Then choose "Permission" and do the setting as shown in this attachment (picture).

Sorry for being not clear enough.
Regions: Europe, Asia, SouthAmerica, ....

Here I made it for you, add this four lines as your regionCode.

NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org

Your country codes already correct.

Thanks you very much.
My phone lock in the sats in 3 seconds!
Using X10i on Miui Tripraver Iris rom.
I added the additional lines in the gps conf.
Only i didnt add/change the SUPL section with my root explorer.

only 2 lines for SUPL section

SUPL_Host+supl.sonyericsson.com
SUPL_Port+7275

Works Great!
Just wandering,by looking at the lines does it mean that the gps work in tandem with the carrier signal? cos i didnt enable data or wifi when i test it.

Note; the plus sign on above is not correct,it suppose to be equal sign. I need a new keyboard!

Can someone explain EXACTLY how to get the gpsconf.txt file into the gps.conf folder? I am using Root Explorer. I am long pressing gpsconf.txt, then pressing copy, then when I press gps.conf I just get the white/now blank screen and there is no apparent way to copy the text into that file. TIA...

i copied the text from an email and just pasted it into the gps file via root explorer. was a pain to get the paste option in there for some reason mind.

i suppose in theory, you could just rename your text file to the conf file after deleting the original (and backing it up)

Thanks for the suggestion. That's good way of doing it. I will change later on.

Wowie, talk about "stepping in it", although I was still unable to do the move/paste thing in either Root Explorer or ES, I did take your suggestion and renamed the file. Well, now it shows as named: "gpsconf.txt.bak", which is probably not correct, but whatever I did actually works. Props to you, props to Xenova, and to Xrider for the fix, and to nat4u and EDT for a GB ROM that actually has NO bugs...

working

Hi, very nice. For first view it seems to fix all problems on my Galaxy S i9000 (2.3.3, JVK, 2.6.35.7 original-rooted).:D

I created new gps.config from code on page, added values for europe and czech republic servers, and I could not believe it. It's working.:cool:

GPS Status app was helpful too, I finally fix my compass and tilt sensor.

thumbs up

As a alternative way, you can copy the codes in grey box (in first post) to a notepad, then change the extension name from .txt to .conf then copy to your phone. I will fix the link soon :p
I stay in Singapore and these are the servers I found on http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/sg

server 1.sg.pool.ntp.org
server 1.asia.pool.ntp.org
server 2.asia.pool.ntp.org

The following lines are the lines I edited;

NTP_SERVER=sg.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.sg.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.asia.pool.ntp.org

XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

Am I doing the right way? After that, all I need is to change the .txt file to .conf right?

Yupe, I checked for you. It should be right. Because just realized that for Singapore's case bit different. You give it a try and looking forward for your feedback :)

This would also correct:
NTP_SERVER=sg.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.sg.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.asia.pool.ntp.org
