Is it possible to use separate SD card for WP rather than having three partitions?
Example:
32GB Card - FAT32+EXT4 - Android NativeSD
8GB Card - WP7 Partition(the whole card)
So you could use WP7 in NAND if you use the 8GB card and Android if you have the 32GB card.
Could it work like that?

Yes, it works fine like that.
I have a separate 8Gb card for wp7.
Remember to use magldr/services/bootsettings/always menu
So that you can decide what to boot each boot.
You can keep the other sdcard in a cellotape pocket on inside of battery cover

Alright I'll try this when I got time. Thanks for the reply :good:

I tried this a couple of times to no avail, I've installed pdaimajteam ROM, or whatever it is called, and after it finished installation my sd was formatted as pictured in OP but steps bellow that didn't worked as stated. My hd2 saw a bigger partition after formatting the card than before (14.8 GB, then 15.8 GB) but no available space. I'll try again today, but, did anything like this happen to anyone else?
Thanks.

You have to make sure that the wp7 partition is bigger than the unallocated partition. I think this is where you are going wrong.

@mengfei, looking at the guide, if you stop at the point where you are dual booting, then the wp7 partition is still set as logical and android will not "see" sd card. It must be set to primary.

Also, it is possible to have a wp7 partition much smaller than the unformatted partition, but it involves using 2 cards.
For example if you have a 8Gb and a 32Gb card. 1st set up your 8GB with say 200Mb Fat16 (or it is called Other), 2Gb unallocated and 6Gb wp7. Then copy BOTH the 200Mb partition and the WP7 partition to your (blank, unformatted) 32Gb card. Then re-size (and format to fat32) the 200Mb partition to whatever size you want (and of course put ext4 partition in too as per OP), setting all partitions as primary.

Yes you are right, I have deleted my comment about stopping at that point since there are no more updated SD ROMs but most are NativeSD, thanks for noticing.

Lets try to triple Boot our HD2's with WIN7 + SD + Native SD via Magldr, although I got mine working OK, i'm not entirely sure if this is viable to all. please see last part.

I assume you already have Magldr in your HD2 & its either running WP7 or Andy in NAND or already dual Boots.

If not flash WP7 first in NAND by trying to follow this, WP7 is always in NAND **Anything you have in NAND/ SD will be deleted including CWM**
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25781675#post25781675

after that is done the partitioning begins

Be very careful when using the minitool partition as you can accidentally format/ delete your Hard Disk Partition.

i'll be using a 16g card & after flashing WP7 it uses the SD Card as it's own storage using it's own format similar to a RAID setup making it like an Internal storage & what's left is usually 200mb of free space. We need to take back some of that space! :cyclops:

A - Set Magldr > Service > Boot Setting > Always Menu

After you reboot & setup WP7 go to:
••settings > about > reset your phone > YES! > phone re-boots

since you set A your still in magldr (don't let it boot to WP7 - yet), remove the card, put it in your PC & run MTPW

you will see something like this

right click on the larger (other)(14.64GB) partition & choose delete
right click on the larger (now unallocated)(14.64GB) partition & choose create partition as "Logical" with "Unformatted" file system.
Slide the tab to the Right leaving a partition slightly larger than 1/2 the SD card that was shown in MTPW
Make sure the "Unallocated Space After : is ZERO 0

after pressing OK something like below will show
Noticed that the "Unformatted" is larger than the "Unallocated" partition
click "Apply" & wait for it to finish.

••Close MTPW > insert SD card to HD2 > Boot WPH
WP7 will continue to boot & do the usual setup stuff
settings > about > to see if the partition has changed.

Turn OFF the phone, take out the SD card & plug it in the PC then run MTPW
the "Unformatted" before now becomes "other" to MTPW which WP7 formatted for it's own use.

right click on the 200MB "other" partition & delete it!
noticed that it combined with the "unallocated" partition & now we have just 2 partitions

right click on the "unallocated" partition
Create As > Primary > FAT32
slide the Tab to the Left for the EXT4 partition, i choose around 2g

when you press OK, an allocated space will be there
right click on the "unallocated" partition
Create As > Primary > EXT4

right click on the "Other" partition
Modify > Set partition as Primary

Now we have 3 Primary Partitions, click Apply & when all is done your ready to go!

copy all the necessary files you need to the SD & see if WP7 boots First, see more on NativeSD+EXT4 below
NativeSD Rom+EXT4 for New Users with peechurs

Error Message
when i ran EXT4 recovery there was an error message & it does not boot to TWRP (touch), although with this error message all seems to be running ok - for now :fingers-crossed:

Many thanks to the Dev's & Guys that gave us so much for our HD2, don't forget to hit the "Thanks" button for our guys! :highfive:

for partitioning I followed This
First, I would like to thank you on this explanation.
I have one qestion.
I made a partition like you explained and i use windows mobile 7.8 and Nexus android 4.1.2.
my partiotion size is like this:
partiotion for windows phone is something about 4Gb
partiotions for android:
ext4 - 1,5Gb
fat32 - 2Gb
and my question is how i can put music on that fat32 partition with usb conection, and is it possible?
I was try to put some songs and they are in ext4 partition and i think that dont have access to fat32 partition.
sorry for the bad english I hope you understand my question.
Thx

my hd2 512 when i use wp7.8 it very hot may be 40⁰c
I successfully did this with a 64 gig card last night but I found myself with more questions than I had answers. Earlier in the evening I successfully flashed WP7.8 and NexusHD2 onto the card and distinctly remember EXT4 was set up with 4 gigs. I tried a couple of different combinations all resulting in both WP and Android rebooting the device over and over and over as if stuck in a loop. My goal was to create a large EXT4 partition...8 gigs and the remaining 56 gigs for everything else. It didn't dawn on me there were size limitations until I thought about my wife's HTC One which is 2GB ROM/64GB RAM and I took the time to check if there is a size limit and read that 2 gigs is the max. I didn't know if that meant 1MB or 1 megabit...the 1024 deal so I made sure when I did my last one of the evening to be less than 4096; it worked! Currently my HD2 is set up with a hair shy of 2 gigs EXT4 and 58 GB for everything else. I need to know can the EXT4 be bigger and if so by how much? The reason I'm asking is earlier in the evening when I had both WP7.8 and Nexus I had 4 gigs as that partition ext4 and it ran. So I'm wondering can it be bigger or must no matter which way I install on this card limit the EXT4 to 2GBs tops? Thanks!

@berrywr

not really sure here but give the link below a try if you want to have a larger EXT4 + FAT32 than the WP partition.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191238
I was reading your other thread...let me see if I have this correct; you start with a smaller micro SD card, let's say a 16 gigger and you initially set it up with WP7.8 in NAND and half that card...you let WP7.8 do it's thing on the phone and the card and when all done you simply copy the contents of that card to a bigger say for example that big ol boy I have, the 64 gigger and when it's all said and done WP7.8 will still see the 8 gigs as if what's in it is the 16 gig card because you're launching WP from NAND. I get the impression the only way I can have a 4 gig EXT4 partition is this method. There's no way to set up a 4 gig EXT4 and 60 gig FAT32 and run it from SD....is there?

what are you using to access your fat32 from wp7? You should be able to use the explorer in wp7 root tools for example (grant root access for app in root manager). file explorer also works for me but for some reason touchexplorer shows storage card as file of 0bytes.

are you confusing the ext4 with your wp7 partition?
The ext4 is for nativeSD and dataonext Android installations.
I have not heard of any problems with ext4 larger than 2Gb, Unless there is no more room for fat32 stuff, which there should not be in your case.
Please can you post your partition layout (position, sizes etc) of what you have and also what you want to have. (All partitions set to primary;))

dual boot Windows mobile 6.5 (stock) and windows phone 7

Is it possible? I found a lot of tutorials for dual boot Winmo&android, Winphone&android, even triple boot here, but I need just Winmo&winphone, without android... Could you, guys, make an advice (kind of short-tutorial, 4-5 lines = ) what I have to do, if it possible?

P.S. sorry for bad english
