The question was if the USB hub the Ethernet adapter is connected to is powered... it should be, because the dongle probably can not provide enough power for the adapter to work propperly.

I beg your pardon sorry I muss understood, the usb adapter was, is plugged direct in to the side of the MK908 tv stick so would pick up power from that, i assume

That could be the cause of your issue...

Yes it probably is not putting out enough power. Try a powered hub.can grab one on Amazon for fifteen bucks

I tried to put this USB adapter through a 1amp powered hub, still no joy it does exactly the same thing as if I where plugging it direct in to the MK908.
The USB adapter flickers away like Christmas Tree lights showing data movement but the Mk908 won't allow me to keep the Ethernet switched on, it still instantly turns back off.
I'm starting to think this is a driver problem

What firmware do u have installed? Probably try to reflash your firmware, i had a bad flash once and had similar effects on Bluetooth plus screen went off for a second frequently...

I shall go learn how to flash this MK908, I have clockwork ready installed on this and im guessing its not that much different from flashing my tablet.
I kinda fluffed my way through that installing Cyanogenmod.....Badly but then sussed it
I looked at both options and would prefer a 1080 res, and rewriting the build to allow this in finless rom is a little beyond me at this moment.

Changing build.prop is as easy as editing a text file just find the two lines and change the values at the end.

I used to edit Xml files many years ago for use with my old original chipped xbox using programmers notepad, but that was a long time ago.
Ive pretty much got to learn all again, little steps as Ive got to build some bravery for flashing this 908

I recommend you to either buy a cx-919 or an mk-908II which have both external wifi antennas and no wifi issues like the 908 is plagued with. Also you should order a 3000ma power supply with it to use instead of the 2000 stock one as these devices occassionally need more power.

how bout a cheap quad core one that can be easily rooted and runs wired ethernet, i bought one of those mini usb to lan ethernet adapters for 5 bucks, 1080p streaming is not a must but i dont want a slow lagging android o/s, im used to the fast nexus 7 fhd! thanks

I just ordered the MK908. I want to use a lan2usb for internet. Is a 5V3A adapter (I can't find one on ebay) for the MK908 enough to make the lan2usb adapter work on the usb port? Or is it better to buy a selfpowered usb hub and use that one for the lan2usb?

The MK908 comes with flash player 11.1 and from what I understood I need 11.9.
There is any way to update the Flash player on this thing or any ROM with newer version of Flash player?

I have one flashplayer that installs well, but latest one i also use on my i9300 does not install. Unfortunately i am not at home, so i can not send you the version that works. However, you can try hubi app from playstore to relay the link to a player of your choice (google video player, mx player or what works best for me dice player).

got the 908II yesterday, but after a couple of minutes of usage it just force-closes and restarts. tried it a 5-6 times..and the same answer. any help? shall i try a custom rom? it was a present so no clue about warranty.
how can I make a master reset, in order to return to factory settings?
