Trouble Charging Nvidia Shield X1 while running

I am using my old android cable as well as a 1 Amp wall charger, Is it just not possible to keep a running charge while its running on a 1 Amp? I currently do not have the expendable cash my budget allows to go grab a 10 or 12$ wall charger and was wondering if there were any alternative methods to be able to use my tablet while its charged to a 1 Amp charger? It charges fine while powered off (It probably takes longer than if I had a 2.0 Amp charger but my old tablet I had worked fine on a 1 Amp charger. Is there any developer tools or any settings I can alter to allow myself to use it while its charging so it doesnt die even while connected to the outlet? An answer would be greatly appreciated with as much detail as possible. (Kind of new to the whole tablet game if that wasn't obvious by this possibly silly question) Any help is greatly appreciated
