Trouble determining which Kindle I have.

I cannot figure out which Kindle I have and would really appreciate some help. I have a Kindle Fire (non-HD, I know that much) with the model D01400 but it's running version 10.3.1. These two things contradict each other. The D01400 is a 1st gen device but 10.3.1 has not been released for the 1st gen Kindle Fire. The serial number seems to point towards a 2nd gen device, but the model number is of a 1st gen Kindle Fire. So, which is it?

The model number is the same on both devices for some dumass reason.

You have a 2nd gen based off the firmware. Which is the only way to tell
