Trouble rooting HTC Sensation

Hello - I am having trouble rooting my Sensation despite having followed relevant and well referenced guides. I am running the following and haven't ever loaded a custom ROM.

I am completely new to this stuff but have so far managed to:

- unlock the bootloader using HTCdev bootloader unlock
- do S-OFF using [GUIDE] Juopunutbear S-OFF (HBOOT 1.27.0000 with 3.32 ICS Firmware)
- install recovery
- install superuser

The bootloader screen shows:

=JuopunutBears=
PYRAMID PUT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1111
RADIO-11.24A.3504.31_M
OpenADSP-v05.6.0.2226.00.0418
eMMC-boot
Jan 13 2012, 17:33:34

Once I thought I was done I tried to install 4Ext however soon realised that something was wrong and I couldn't install Busybox and SuperUser appeared to not be working. So I ran root checker and the device still appears to not be rooted.

What do I need to do now ?

flash this zip from recovery
http://download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip
it will give you root access

Any ideas on why CarbonROM wouldn't like to boot up using a 64GB SDcard ? Works fine with 8GB card.
