I am trying to root a verizon note 8. I can get safestrap installed, I can get a factory android installed, but when i try to load a rom into a rom slot it wont boot. it just shows a black screen after the safestrap options. not sure what i am doing wrong.

Are there any roms for specifically the verizon note 8? Or any pre rooted versions i can install through odin? I think Ive tried everything.

Should also say im new to all of this so i need things explained very clearly and easy instructions lol.

You can't be past bootloader 3. If build number starts with U4 or S4 you cannot root. There is EDL for bootloader 6 but if you have no idea how to even root then there is no way you should mess around with that method. There is no root past revision 3 bootloader.

Do you know what build you are on? That is a good place to start. That is why I asked and you said you have no idea about any of that. Not trying to be a jerk but it will save you a lot of searching and frustration if you knew these basic things before trying to root. Know your build number..bootloader version. Just trying to offer friendly advice as alot of peeps here will have wanted you to know these basic things before they offer up help. If you know these things then I and others can point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Im pretty sure im on bootloader 6. I did the EDL stuff, im good with computers, only ever rooted one phone. Like i said i can get safestrap on there but when i have safestrap going it will not load into android. it just black screens.

I followed these directions https://www. the custom droid .com/root-galaxy-note-8-snapdragon-n950u/

But the final product doesnt have the safestrap app installed. I have to load it through odin and then nothing works except safestrap. Like I said, Not really sure what im doing but its a spare phone so im tinkering.

Thanks for the help.

Well you're trying to load Android from safe strap and like @butchieboy77 said the rom slots don't work on safe strap yet. Since all you said you were doing is "tinkering" because it's a spare phone we don't have any idea what it is that you're trying to do or what you're asking for? I mean if the rom slots don't work then what else can we do to assist you?
