Got a Ray today (pink, for my wife :))
I went ahead and applied the .62 OTA update about 5 minutes after the first boot (seemed like the right thing to do) sooo...

Two questions;
1. I see I need to unlock the boot loader, and that there's several methods. What's the best way? I want to be able to re-lock it for warranty purposes.
2. How do I un-root once I have rooted? Again, for warranty purposes.

My paranoia is because my wife somehow killed her LG P500 (hardware fault) but I can't get it fixed under warranty because it's rooted. I need to unroot. I just want to make sure that on this device I can un-root in case she screws thia one up too.

Thanks for all assistance..

Isn't it better to leave it as it is? I mean it's your wife's phone ;) back to topic:
1. Test point method
2. Just flash with seus again even with test method. You'll be fine.

Yep - that means I need to take backups using CWM and Titanium Backup all the time and revert them when she fcuks it up lol

Thanks dude, I appreciate it. As I've been reading more about the test point method I see it is in fact temporary, which is cool.

Not sure what you mean by "flash with seus again"? Tell you what - I'll work my way through the tutorial and see how I go.

Should have known that myself lol.

Yep, when u flash with SE update service, you will lose your root program, but with bootloader is knowingly 'locked' by the updater, you'll still able to update officially.

Thanks @idareyoutoclickthis. I note that searching for the words "unlock bootloader" doesn't find this article ("unlock boot loader" does). No wonder I've been going mental.

Thanks for the help! Oh, BTW @chiefy I still can't find anything useful in the Q&A section, even now including "DRM" in the search words. But I have what I need, cheers.

Hello all,

My Xperia Ray stuck in bootloop. The only access available is through fastboot, ADB can't detect the phone as well, SUES found the modified gene & can't restore via service update. This bootloop happened because of I modify framework-res.apk :0)

Ideally it will be good if I could go into the filesystem again & just replace the original apk.. Thinking to download the stock ROM .62 & follow the front page instruction. Or any better way to recover the phone?

Have you tried using flashtool? It's a good practice to create backup using cwm, whenever you play with system files.

That's the silly part, still noob at that time, later I found out why we need CWM.
I just reflash with given stock ROM (Russian?) & start all over again.
And now CWM is my best friend :)

The big wonder is still there, anyway I could just replace the problem file via fastboot/flashmode?
