Let me ask though, what is it I would be getting from doing this? Wouldn't magisk just patch dtbo once I am done with all that?
Convenience is probably the biggest benefit. You can chang kernels on the fly if you want to. Accomplishes the same thing of course, but then you don't need a pc to flash kernels either.

I am yes, using the eSim on the phone

:Edit:
I fixed this by doing the following
1) Goto Settings --> Network & Internet --> Data usage
2) Select the 3 dots in the top right corner and select "Mobile Networks"
3) Click Advanced and select Carrier
4) Click Reset Carriers
5) Once complete, you will have no Network access, so reboot your phone
6) Once reboot is complete, login to Project Fi app and activate services
7) Enjoy!

Hey please help me. When I tried to flash dtbo.img file , it gave me the massage "Failed to identify current slot".

I even tried with Flash boot img file through Flashify app, it gave me message "Your boot partition couln't found. You won't be able to flash boot images. You can still flash zip files."

Do you get the same message when you use fastboot? As in "fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img"
Also wouldn't recommend using flashify for image files.

Hi, I'm pretty new to magisk
So basically I need to install the older version of magisk manager so dtbo doesn't automatically gets patched?

Are you still getting the message using the 5.5.5 manager and 15.3 zip?
I'm on February update,
I was still getting the message after installing 15.3 zip & 5.5.5 manager. I tried flashing dtbo after installing & uninstalling manager 5.5.5 but it just keeps patching it.

Then try Flash kernel. He has customized it to detect stock or custom rom, and it doesn't let the dtbo.img get patched......usually works for that irritating, though not harmful message.
Is there a link/instructions for that?
I'm still not entirely how magick work since I just got it installed today
