Re: [TUT] MT65xx ROM Porting

Yeoh Bro, as said earlier, JB ROM needs JB boot.img from your device & if you already have JB boot.img then why port other JB to your device... :D

But wait, haha, on the MMX A110 thread, they have ported many JB ROM to their device with the recent release of JB boot.img for their device here...

So pray hard that A90s release JB ROM update or you couldn't port all those JB ROMs to your device... :fingers-crossed:

----------------------------------
Fuel by the interest from MMX A110 xda members to port JB, i too started try out those ROMs there & to my surprise many do boots up however patching Wi-Fi, Blueetooth, Camera & etc is required.... :D
boot. img means...?? can i extract that from A110 rom and then recomplie it... cuz both devices same specifications only things is screen resolution its different A90s HDPI and A110 is QHD so what should i do...?? any help appreciate for me... i just need JB rom for My A90S that's all.. :p

i already said it here however you can always try it... :fingers-crossed:

alot of you guys said compile & the correct term is port it over... Fyi, Mediatek until now didn't release their source code & only Alcatel releases it & AFAIK, its not full, needs alot of patching for it to compile successfully...

However, there has been alot of development going on here at xda & also at china.iphone.ru, hopefully these great DEVs manage to patch it to make it fully working on our devices then you can compile your own JB boot.img, provided MMX releases their source code.... :fingers-crossed:
i am still figuring out how to setup the correct build environment for CM10.1...
Those cli commands are driving me crazy...

And i wonder why not even one DEV write a script out of it to help us newbie that just started on compiling from sources...

uh hello... I'm a total newbie... new to android device and software (bought the phone a few days before christmas) and just found out about this thread because I got problems with my device around 5 days ago (it deletes all apps in sd card on every reboot) and just found out that by turning on usb debugging mode that the phone model came up. uhm... could anyone kindly please point me somewhere that I can find an exact copy of the OS currently running on the phone? or make a clone out of it? and how to know what kind of model of phone? windows just said MT65xx android phone. the device runs and loaded with version 4.0.4.

thanks!!

EDIT:

I read one of yuweng's links and tried out DROIDTOOL by jined through google playstore, but the program kept on saying that I don't have my phone plugged in, no matter what I did (tried all 3 different usb ports, disabling avg, restarting the computer, still same result). I even go to device manager and the phone is listed as ANDROID and PORTABLE DEVICES.... still, the program said I didn't plug the phone! did I download the wrong DROIDTOOL?

then I remembered I had the app called ROOT EXPLORER which can see more than just the regular file explorer do, then I go to the listed folders (/sys/devices/platform and /sys/bus/i2c/drivers). can't open the /proc/devices....

in the platform folder, I see 2 different numbers, mt3326 and mt6575... in i2c/drivers I see mt6329.... so, what device do I have? windows listed it as mt65xx.... the one with 65 is 6575?

THANKS!! :)

edit2: phone is not rooted.. yet... do I have to?

Yeoh Bro, at least provide the info as said in the OP...
1. What is your device -> MT6573, 75 or 77
2. What is your Stock ROM -> GB, ICS, JB
3. What chipset it is using -> MT6620 or MT6628
4. What ROM are you porting from...
5. As much info as possible will help in diagnosing you problem...

Just as Senior XDA Member cybermaus once said, don't expect answers with a single line question, its just not possible...

I'm looking for a tablet, cheap I can put cm on to. Phones too, for future reference.

I wonder which devices have that boot.IMG we need, or whether I could generate my own using the chinaphone flash software.

I had a x710d phablet and had a custom ROM on it but it wasnt clear how it was made

Re: [TUT] MT65xx ROM Porting

i've said this many times, to port JB ROMs, you need JB boot.img from you device...

AFAIK, Lewa OS doesn't have Tablet ROM but as always, you never try, you'll never know whether it works...

Bro, the latest cmwr 6.0.2.8 has always been under my signature... Credits to Master Shifu bgcngm for compiling it & also Master Shifu Michfood now it can be ported to any MT6575/ 77 devices on Win OS, no need cygwin or linux...

And i notice many has take it for granted... :( Do you know how many DEVs are involved to make it possible & they are giving it to us free of charge !
The least you can do is hit those thanks button to show your appreciation... Many never even mention credits at all while some including you, mention credits to yourself only...

When you take the work of others, Credit fully the work of others and refrain from taking undue credit...

To an end-user they wouldn't have know or wouldn't even care if you mention credits. However, to fellow DEV/ modder/ programmer, it means alot to them...When you mention credits in the op, it means you appreciate, recognise, respect & you truly honored to the original DEV for their work that you have taken from...When you don't include credits, end-user will think you are doing all this work by yourself...You can also notice, even great/ well known DEV/ modder/ programmer all mention credits in their OP b'cos they give recognition to the original work/ person they have taken from too...

Last but not least, show your support for Operation RMD...

copied lib camera releated files in lib forder without success.

Phone works very well with new rom but no camera.
Can you help me to solve the problem?

No hard feelings, most important is Point taken, lesson learned. All's Well, Ends Well Cheers...
what am i doing wrong???:(
As said, if it doesn't boot then move on & try another ROM...
Even though its the same MT65xx, the LCD, camera module, sensors might be different that's why it doesn't boot... :cowboy:

You don't have to since you will be most likely to patch modem.img or the whole /system/etc/firmware over to your ported ROM, 3G will never work even if you use it b'cos the hardware is not supported... it turns out yours is MT6517 & not MT6577, my friend...
Refer to here for more info... :cowboy:

Yeoh Bro, ROM porting is not so hard, you can start porting one right away since Master Shifu Javum has compile a special version of TWRP that supports Alcatel device here...

but camera app doesn't appear in app drawer. Can you help me to solve the problem?
Have you tried angel.grin's method here... As said, sometimes is best to move on rather than wasting time patching it since there are so many other MT6573 ROMs out there...

yes, following angel.grin experience....and after flashing rom....no camera app present in app drawer....
i forced install apk present in system/app....but phone said not possible to install.
maybe there is some permission to add?

with custom rom (untouched) there is camera app but says error on COM.MEDIATEK.CAMERA opening camera

yes, i can change rom....but i think i'm near to solve problem for my phone (line 2 not accessible if line 1 data connection in on); with that rom this problem is solved but there is camera issue :)
after made few test, unpack, repack, ect....I'd hate to waste all the work made until now.

thanks

Try patching mt6573-kpd.kl file in /system/usr/keylayout/ folder by comparing with your stock rom's one....
