Why? To be able to unlock with gloves, without gloves, by swiping, by fingerprint, etc.
Steps:
1. Add an unlocking method, eg. PIN, PATTERN, PASSWORD

2.Assign your fingerprints

3. Reboot to twrp, go to advanced, file manager and then navigate to 'data/system'

4. From there delete the following files:
locks strings.db-wal
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db
gatekeeper.pattern.key
gatekeeper.password.key

5. Reboot

Now you should be able to unlock your phone without any pin, pattern or password, but still be able to use fingerprint.
I know it might sound useless to some, but...

Hi,

If we delete all those files, what happens after the phone is restarted?
Normally, after a restart, the phone insists on a pattern even if you have
a fingerprint. SO first time you have to use the pattern and then only
fingerprint.

So if i delete these lines then how will this work ??

regards
Greg

If You delete those files, after reboot you will be able to unlock ether by fingerprint or swipe. No pin/pattern, nothing.

file descriptions

Hello,
Thank you for this information. I've got fingerprint set up on my phone but do not like having to enter my backup pin on first reboot. I obviously can use the fingerprint from that point on. From the original post:

"
4. From there delete the following files:
locks strings.db-wal
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db
gatekeeper.pattern.key
gatekeeper.password.key
"

can someone explain each of these files and their functions? Also, unrelated, is there a page where one can learn about these types of configurable files?

Thanks.
Dave.

pin now not required

Hello,

I performed the actions in the original posting. The fingerprint now does work on initial boot. The problem I'm having is if I lock the screen again before rebooting, a simple press of the unlock button gets it open, i'm not prompted for the fingerprint or pin, it's like the phone is open after the initial fingerprint unlock.

Thanks.
Dave.

You only have to delete locksettings.db lol
