Hi, is anyone in this thread still active?
I have a problem that might be solved by the knowledge here.
I have a Lumia 1020 with a corrupted boot. A few years back I installed Windows 10 Mobile on it by changing a few registry keys that make it seem like my Lumia 1020 is actually a 950XL. Something like this, using interop tools: https://www.windowsphonearea.com/install-redstone-3-builds-unsupported-windows-phones/
But now my phone bricked itself and is in a constant loop of "Can't find bootable option. Press any key to shut down.". I can't access it, it doesn't start and is always stuck here.
Every time I try to flash anything with WDRT (Windows Device Recovery Tool), WPInternals or thor2 I always get the same error message: signature error and authentication problems. Meaning, the registry values that I once changed are now stopping me from flashing the phone because it is half Lumia 1020 and half Lumia 950XL.
The processes used here seem to be able to help me. I have already downloaded the OEM tools and installed them: https://forum.xda-developers.com/wi...ools-wdk-wpak-wpdk-cabs-building-wp8-t3183972
Do you know how to use these steps to maybe help me fix my problem? I really like my phone and want it back from the mistake I made.
My guess is to change a value on the FFU so that it matches the phone, flash it and then when the phone is up and running, change the registry files again to it's originals and then flash it again so that it becomes factory default again.
Thanks in advance.

Flash EFIESP.bin partition from another phone using WPinternals.
For example i unbricked lumia 530 with lumia 830 mainos.bin.
I don't understand how that's possible. As I am, I can't flash anything on there, not with thor2 or Windows Internals. I always get a missmatch in the beginning saying the FFU doesn't match the hardware (I assume because of the changed registry values). How would I then flash it with an ffu from another phone? What software would I use and how?
Maybe I'm missing something huge but I always get the same error when trying to flash. I love my Lumia 1020 and would love to have it back. :crying:

Go to flash separate partition section.
Go get efiesp.bin file from another phone.
I've tried that but it doesn't work. I got the EFIESP partition from the original factory WP8 image but it doesn't work. Could it be because the last OS on the phone was Windows Mobile 10?
Also, on Windows Phone Internals, everything is shown as Blown or in red color and very little can be done there. I always get "header missmatch" errors. And everytime the phone boots it displays the error message: "Unable to find a bootable option". This always interrupts the boot and stops what Windows Phone Internals or thor2 are doing.
How do I get around this? How can I access the phone when the info page in WPI shows all red?

I still think my best option is to find a way to edit the FFU and flash it with thor2 but I don't know how to edit registry files.

Thanks for the replies.

Efiesp.bin need to be from updated to windows mobile 10 device.
Connect the phone and click interupt the boot process.
I've tried it with a Lumia 950XL ffu but it crashed WPI.
I'm not sure but I don't have any installed drivers like the ones mentioned in WPI:

1. Microsoft / Nokia Driver – This exposes the phone in emergency mode as a WinUSB device. This google search will help you locate the driver.
2. Qualcomm Driver – This exposes the phone as a serial device whilst in this emergency mode. This google search will help you locate the driver.
I don't remember ever having them installed. Could it be why I'm getting problems and WPI keeps crashing?
I formatted my PC and now I only have WDRT and WPI here. Which ones should I install?
Thanks.

Edit: It turns out the Nokia drivers are automatically installed with WDRT.
Also, I installed a few Qualcomm drivers I found and now I can't even get thor2 to put the phone in flash mode or anything else.
I live in Portugal, do you know somebody trustworthy that could maybe fix this if I were to send him my phone? I'm serious.

Im serious too. I said efiesp.bin partition, not ffu, from already unlocked dewice, with windows 10 mobile. Try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10-mobile/lumia-830-fall-creators-update-10-0-t3740002
I used the efiesp.bin partition from a factory ffu from the Lumiafirmware.com website. I mounted the images, unlocked them on WPI and tried to flash them but WPI crashed. Maybe I missed something.

Will now try what you sent with that link.

Either way, I have a Lumia 640 I can unlock, extract the efiesp partition and try that too.

Thank you for your help.

Reset protection only work for windows 10 mobile. so on my 530 updated phone, i installed resetprotection cabs and i reflashed the phone without disable reset priotection, witch bricked the phone with no boot option.
Using the efiesp.bin file from lumia 830 backup from updated and bootloader unlocked phone, i unbricked the lumia 530. The bad news is that is stuck on wp8, cant update, any intent to update result in bluescreen. But is unbricked :D

I updated my Lumia 1020 to Windows 10 by changing a few registry values to make it look like a Lumia 950XL, which is why it can't be flashed now, because of those broken values.
But I don't remember using any .cab files during that so I probably didn't touch it.
My intent is to get my Lumia 1020 to it's original factory image, don't want any more updates.
I will try soon that efiesp-bin partition to see if it works.

No, it get reset activation activated :)))
And now the phone is not being recognized by the laptop. :(
I installed the .inf qualcomm drivers I found online and it stopped being recognized ever since. I've deleted them but still nothing.
I also uninstalled the Nokia BOOTMGR on device manager in hopes it would reconnect but nothing.
Damnit. -_-
