Perfect - it all worked a treat! Many thanks!!!

However, in my haste, I didn't switch off the V500 and set it to "download mode" - but the flash updater does this for you. Also, there's no need to hard reset once flashed - just have patience and wait (and wait) for the tab to complete its background tasks while the static LG logo is displayed (with the occasional "light reflection" animation on the red sphere every now and again...) After a (long) while, the "optimising apps" box is displayed (changing all of the Dalvik runtimes to ART?) and finally gives you reassuring progress feedback as all of your installed apps are processed.

And eventually - voila, Android Lollipop 5.0.2 (English) on the LG G Pad 8.3 (V500) with all my original data and apps still intact!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the tutorial! Gonna do this soon.

Also, how do I know where my pad came/manufactured from? I bought my pad "used" so I don't know where it was originally bought.
So I can know what would I download to go back to v20d Kitkat or Lollipop once it's released to what area my pad from.

Well, there's nothing to lose anyway after flashing KDZ. Since I have no warranty to worry about. [emoji14]
I was just making sure that I can somehow return to it's factory ROM.
Gonna flash this after I fully charge my pad and download.
I am sure that you are gonna like it :D

The Brazilian G Pad 8.3 community in G+ has been flashing without hiccups. And they came to the conclusion.... A V500 is a V500. Double check your model. If it is V500, flash without fear. Works flawlessly.

BUT, if you are rooted, only CSE Flash and/or hard reset before/after flash will do the trick, which means you lose all your data, so backup first.

Personally, I will skip update 'till a method to upgrade and/or root which doesn't wipe my data is out, I'm not in the mood of backup/restore my stuff - past experiences have not been good and some data were lost forever.

I made a zip package of this rom that can be flashed with twrp. We can still use the kitkat bootloader so bump will still be supported and we can still have the twrp and obvioulsy the root permission.

Later i will add some features and then i'm posting it.

    Back to stock and root

Went back to stock using KDZ 10A. Took me four tries before I succeeded. When you're going back to 4.4.2 using Flash Tool make sure you select CDMA type. Otherwise the CSE Flash will remain unavailable and the V500 will get stuck in a boot loop. I tried all three options icw Normal Flash. But only CFE flash worked after the LP update. After that I flashed the 20a, flashed oki and TWRP and eventually flashed 30a.

Took me a couple of hours, but hey, it works. Thanks guys. But simply flashing back to 4.4... Next time don't forget to mention you need to select CDMA ;) . Could have spared me at least an hour of figuring ish out ;)
