I'm a little confused, which one should I use for USA? my rom came with 42(HTC_EUROPE), I changed it to 7 for AT&T but I don't like how "AT&T" is added on the left of my status bar, which one should I use for HTC USA? or does it really matter? I already changed my region to 1.

It doesn't really matter what you use for the sku_id if you don't like what it shows.

For example, if you like the 4g symbol for H/H+ and LTE for LTE then the Telus_wwe sku Id will work fine

I guess it does matter, I am on AT&T and tried Sprint_WWE and I kept losing signal constantly, so I guess I will use HTC_Generic sense its not really connected to any region, I like the AT&T one but like I said I don't like the "AT&T" text in my status bar

Changing the setting doesn't actually affect the signal - just the graphical representation of it. If you went to Settings > About > Network and looked at Signal Strength, it would be the same regardless of the Sku_id you choose.

So your saying when I tested "Sprint" it only appeared to have 1 bar of signal when I usually have 4, and LTE switching to 2G and then no signal at all? it was an endless buggy cycle

Thank you very much, I am in africa and as suggested, i've create a copy of the default.xml then replace the 'region' with '13' then the 'sku_id' by '0' for global
After that i've reboot into recovery (TWRP) then go to mount and check "System" and then go to TWRP main menu and chose advanced --> File Manager.

From there i've copied over the edit default.xml in the appropriate location.

After reboot : OOOHHHH, MIRACLE!!! No More question marked SIM Card icon.

I highly appreciate your contribution to solve so flawlessly this issue. Specially for me : RECEIVE MY GREAT AND HUGE THANKS.

In ES Explorer you must go to settings and mount system rw, that's why you can't save your edits.

I am in Houston, Texas too. My carrier is H2O Wireless which operates on AT&T's network so I dont know which sku_id is right for me. Can someone please help?

Try sku id 7, since you're on ATT. Your region should be 1.

But what should be a good one without using 7? 7 which is AT&T actually adds an ugly text on the left side of the status bar which says "AT&T", so I am using sku 0 right now, seems to be working fine, would this be alright to use? or does it really fully matter?

To change region and SKU_ID use a root explorer (Root explorer, ES File Explore etc.)

Open: "/system/customize/ACC/default.xml"

Scroll to the end:

Edit "<item type="integer" name="region">X</item>" and "<item type="integer" name="sku_id">X</item>" according to the list above.

When done, REBOOT your device.


For safety always make a backup in recovery before editing files in your system
