I know what you meant, but this modification doesn't require an "SkuID" app.
You only need to change this once.

But, if you flash ROMs everyday, a script in init.d (using SED command) might be something you would find handy.

Regardning Dev icons:
If the list says so, then give it a try.

I been trying this for a while but they don't seem to stick after reboot on att stock software. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks
After changing the sku_id, have you reopened the file too see if the changes are being saved? Too me it sounds like you don't have write access to /system

Thanks for fast reply. The change happens but after reboot is back to where it was. Only way I can change it is in the Rom zip and dirty flash it. I can't change them even in custom roms. I am s on and unlocked bootloader with stock att lollipop Rom.

Could someone tell me what is this for exactly?
Is it just to change the icon bar? Or it strength the signal thet the device receives???

Please try sku_id 36 if you haven't done that already.

Hi Patrics83,
Could you just explain a little more about this? Actually I would like to know what is this for? Are these changes just change the icon bar or it strengths the signal???
I am a user in Australia and always use European version.
According to your list I could easily change the region code and sku ids provided in first page to Australia.
But I didn't feel any difference after these changes.
So please tell me how do these changes effect on our devices?

Thanks in advance

Depending on where you live you should use specific region/sku code for better signal strength. I.E, if you live in Europe you will use region and sku for Europe to get better signal.

Tnx for replying, yes I know what you mean.
I live in Australia and I usually use European version, and last night after looking this thread I change both to the Australian region. But after changing these I didn't feel any difference in signal strength.
That's why I confused what is this for exactly.

Fixed non-verizon sim message

Thank you very much good sir.

Removed that annoying non-verizon sim message at start up and gone too is the question marked sim icon in the status bar. Thank you. :) :)
I used ES Explorer.

Ensure root explorer is on in ES Explorer .

Sent from HTC One M8 Verizon running Viper Rom 8.4.5.

Thanks!

Also managed to remove the annoying non-VRZ SIM and icon, but (there's always a but, isn't it?! :) ) it shows me full GSM signal bar ALWAYS.

Phone is Verizon M8, S-Off, with latest RUU (5.0.1). Used in Europe, under Orange UMTS/LTE.

Tried with region: 6 (Europe), radio 4 (UMTS_LTE), SKU 123 (HTC_WWE_DEMO) and SKU: 99 (HTC_WWE_EASTEUROPE), same results.

I have normally 3 or 4 signal bars where I live (Verizon RUU stock default.xml) and 5 (out of 5) with modified default.xml as above.

Back to stock settings, the Non-Verizon SIM message (and status icon) are back, and signal is showing me 4 bars (out of five). I will test again tomorrow in my office, where I know signal is always poor (1 to 2 bars out of 5), and will revert here with info.

Of course, still no LTE option (HSDPA only), no matter the SKU settings, but I think this is already known for Verizon (CDMA) phones used worldwide. I kinda gave up in solving this matter lately (of course, it's a different story).

Thanks!

To change region and SKU_ID use a root explorer (Root explorer, ES File Explore etc. Don't forget to mount system read-write and give the app SU privileges when asked.)

    Open: "/system/customize/ACC/default.xml"

    Scroll to the end:

    default.png

    Edit "
X
" and "
X
" according to the list above.

    When done, REBOOT your device.

For safety always make a backup in recovery before editing files in your system

I like this.. I'll have to add it to the ViperOne install.

Hi all. I have tried few region code and ski id's but LTE signal hasn't gone up more than one bar on my HTC One compare to other phone I have (Galaxy S4 mini). I am in Ireland with Meteor (at the moment I have it set to, region code:6 , ski id: 42) and if any of you have the correct (or original or confirm above) codes I would appreciate it. I don't have the back up of stock Rom.
