Big thanks to OP for this work! I have used it several times on 2 Nexus' to add the LTE Bands. Just did it again today as I wanted to try newer radio (flashed the last one from Google's factory image for 7.1 - have hesitated updating the radio because would lose the added LTE bands, I think....) Anyway, everytime I do this, I always have trouble with the process somewhere, so I thought I would add this post here to help myself next time and maybe help someone else also to clarify some of the steps from the OP ---
This will start at Step 3, so assumes already that have obtained the QPST, and installed the moto drivers for the diagnostic interface.

Start the phone up to Bootloader, and use the volume button to move the boot selection to BP Tools, and when that shows, press the Power button - the phone will reboot & start normally. (I had to use an older AOSP ROM today as the custom Oreo ROM I was using would reboot when connected to PC with the BPTools activated...)

Phone connected to USB port on PC.
(Device manager will show the COM port(s) for the phone - in my case, 3 ports, COM10, 11 and 12 all showed)

Run QPST Configuration program. If any ports are showing, REMOVE them all.
Then, ADD Port & you should see the port(s) for the phone. You can do this multiple times to add them all, although only 1 of them is actually needed - but has to be the right one.

Once the port added and showing in the QPST configuration window, go to the 'Start Clients' menu item of QPST configuration, and select 'Software Download' - This will open up the new Software Download QPST Window, with your phone shown as connected; Use the Restore tab, and select the patch.zip file that adds additional bands (links to download those files in Post 1 & 33 this thread). Won't work unless the 'Allow phone/file ESN mismatch' is checked.

Having Band 1 has been so helpful when travel in Asia and getting local SIM card!!!

If I can add LTE bands for Verizon on XT1100. I also plan on rooting and unlocking bootloader. Do i need to root before I add the LTE bands for Verizon, and if I flash custom roms will I lose the bands I added?

Thank God I found this site! I bought the XT1100 on eBay by mistake. I tried to get a refund before they shipped it but was to late. I am on Verizon, I may need some help adding the LTE bands when my device arrives. I'm so Glade I googled this. I clicked the attachment for the XT1100 file but it doesn't download. I'm needing to go ahead and download the file I need so I can set up on my computer that way when my XT1100 arrives I'll be ready to go with the installation. When I get my XT1100 I'll pay someone to help me add Verizon LTE bands! Please message me if interested.

LTE Band 2 and 4 enabled and working on XT1100 in 2018!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Thread not active anymore?

[emoji106]

Not sure. I am guessing yes. However, I was able to accomplish enabling Band 2 and 4 TODAY on XT1100. I am on MINT Sim and my LTE works flawlessly.

I am trying to figure out however...to be a bit more greedy :p:p and see if I can somehow add the third band for Tmob and Verizon (12 and 13 respectively) in this puppy. Both 2 and 4 should work with both providers.

Since this is the only thread that every single user from everywhere (Reddit and other sites) keeps referring to, way back from 2015, and since OP has stopped being active, at least on this thread, I am guessing there has not been any updated work on this.

With custom 8.1s, for instance, will flashing a custom over the AOSP I have make me lose my lte privileges? THAT is my biggest question.

Anyways, if you need instructions, the OPs still hold true. I would be happy to tell you again what I did.

I also bought a XT1100 64gb (deal of the day amazon for $180). I currently have the Verizon Variant Nexus 6 but would also like to enable all LTE bands (2,4 and if possible 12 and 13 on the XT1100 for Verizon. Can you please explain your steps? The OP is a little unclear.

Thanks for that offer. I too had MintSim and had no issues like you. I was able to enable Band 2 and 4 a while ago (as you said) but strangely, currently, I don't get to text or call on Total Wireless/Verizon network but only get LTE data. So I am depending on Hangouts for wifi/data calls.

May be enabling Band 12 might help (?) for those on Total Wireless. Thoughts?
The 1103 has same bands as the 1100 for the most part, so I'm not sure what it where is the issue with calls on Verizon network for 1100

I was able to activate all required CDMA and LTE Bands on the XT1100 following this guide on XDA.

The phone reports all the required bands but I think it's verizon that is seeing this IMEI number and blocking it from full network access. I have LTE, but can't make a call. My next step is to either take it to a Verizon and try to get them to activate it or call customer service. Customer Service might be a better option as I can hopefully get a tech that understands.

Hope this helps anyone in a similar situation.

Edit: I also used this site for a guide on all the bands I needed to activate.

I've never used post paid service on Shamu, so I've never been able to use the 'full' Verizon network, if that's even a thing. Total Wireless being MVNO is perhaps blocked from using some specific bandwidths of its parent network.

From what I was told, Total Wireless needs 850 gsm to facilitate calls but my 1100 already has that (?).

I unlocked my bands using QPST tools, as per the OP from China/Azlea, specifically tailored to N6. Does the generic Qualcomm bands unlocking links that you provide do more/unlock more bands for Shamu? Have you tried both?

Yes you can unlock all bands available on the device with the DFS tool. I still haven't had any success with calls. Tried talking to a Verizon chat rep, they refused to activate the phone. I think I just need to go to a store and try at this point.

Works flawlessly for enabling LTE Bands 2 & 4 on the International Nexus 6 xt1100. This enabled T-Mobile's 4G/LTE data, a GSM-based network that utilizes LTE Band 2 (1900MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100MHz), Band 5 (850MHz), and Band 66 (Band 4 Extension of the 1700/2100MHz Spectrum). T-Mobile's 3G (UMTS/HSPA) frequencies are covered by Band 2 and Band 4 as well. Band 2 is likewise used on 2G (GSM, GPRS, EDGE) for voice or data, but not voice & data simultaneously.
This mod makes for the perfect solution for T-Mobile, its subsidiaries and MVNOs on the XT1100 Nexus 6.

    XT1100 to XT1103?
Is it possible to convert an XT1100 to an XT1103? Is it a hardware thing?

I would like to enable band 2 and 4 in the XT1100, is that at all possible?

I have both an XT1103 (borrowed) and my own, an XT1100. Could I copy the NV values from the 1103 onto the 1100? Would it cause any damage to try?

I dont mind formatting, but I also don't want a brick.

    Thanks,
    Sam.
Sam, some is possible, but I do not have a due day for next qcn releasing.
Hi sorry for muy english. I need to enable band 4 on nexus 6 xt 1100. Can you send NV values for do this.

    Thks.
    Marcelo

Finally, I manage serveral my family hours to make some trial qcns for more bands, Including:
Band 2 and band 4 for XT1100 View attachment XT1100_LTE_B2_B4_Patch.zip
and Band 1 and band 8 or Band 1/9/19 or Band 1/8/9/19 for XT1103 View attachment XT1103_B1_B8_B9_B19_Patch.zip
    to trial.
for new comers HOW TO questions, please read POST#1 first, just replace the qcn files attached named with the band you want.
I have never test these qcn since no such band signal in my city, So YOUR feedback after 1 day test is preferred
Your sucess will lead me to update the POST#1 1-stop with full info .

AN important NOTE for XT1103 band 20, the fact is I have attached
    XT1103_B1_B8_B9_B19_Patch.zip\XT1100toXT1103_RF_LTE_B1_8_9_19_20_Merged.QCN here,
but according my knowlege in NEXUS5, to enabled band 17 and band 20 at the same model will NEED addtional components in RF Front End hardware design, so mostly , XT1103 enabled Band17 will NOT support band20.
so you are free to try XT1100toXT1103_RF_LTE_B1_8_9_19_20_Merged.QCN, but do not have too much hope to get band20 works.

I just ran this process with QPST 2.7 Build 425. I am on an XT1103 in Switzerland for vacation and was not able to get Band 20 to work. The phone supports ALL the other bands that are used for LTE, but apparently the area that I am in on Swisscom is using 20. I flashed the file that says it has 20 in it, but I did see some notes from Azlan that he wasn't sure that 20 would work due to some kind of overlap with 17 that is already supported on the XT1103. Azlan, if you have anything you want me to try while i'm here, I'm in Switzerland/France for the next 7 days.

Thanks for all your work on this, I'm sure most of the people that are successful don't ever come back and say thanks, just like everyone who posts ROMs, myself included. Thanks for what you do for the community.

Hi, I messed up my NV values and I can't get signal anymore. Can you please post original XT1103 QCN file so we can restore the backup? Thanks.
Please note the normal QPST-Software Download backup qcn will not works for restoring,
and older QPST-RF NV Item manager backuped Qcn can not cover all RF nv now, so it is also not good choice for you to restore Solutions for your issue,
Soution1. In case you only lost your signal after you use 4636-Phone Info-Select UMTS band- US band, Try to set NV00441 to 0xFFFF with this qcn, by QPST-Software Download, an old post is here:
