If you are using Facepalm that won't work on the latest OTA 3.16 you will have to use BabyRacun to downgrade to 3.15 the continue with DirtyRacun or use Facepalm

TWRP Question

I just got a replacement phone from Sprint, my mic went out on my original one. I've unlocked the bootloader installed TWRP 2.5 and SuperSU but the binary won't update on SuperSU or Superuser. I figured, maybe it's the newest version of TWRP, so I downgraded...smh Now no matter what version of TWRP I try to use, I can select any options on the touch screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated BD

Are you on the latest OTA 3.16? If so TWRP 2.4.x.x and newer should work.
Also if the binary is not updating try v1.25 in the zip in post 2

Thanks fire the response, and yes I'm on the latest OTA, and TWRP 2.5 was the first version I tried and I got a slide to unlock option but couldn't unlock it. I'll try doing it again and see what happens

Lost root

I rooted my Evo 4g LTE in March and all was well. Last time the Wifi Tether log shows is May 8. Somewhere I seem to have lost root and I don't know where to go from here. Do I need to get all the files and root over again? Unroot first? Another part of the problem is I forgot which computer I used or where I put the files, or even what I did to begin with. I follow directions pretty well, but that's about it.

Thanks if anyone can help.

jay

Terminal emulator shows no root but still have Titanium Backup and SuperSU, but both don't work.

Try updating SuperSU/superuser from the playstore
or download theSuperSU/superuser zip in post 2 and flash the newest in recovery

Thanks for answering so fast. SuperSU and Titanium Backup both just updated from the store.

I don't remember / know how to flash in recovery. (Told you I forgot everything! Beware old age.)

Download the zip in post 2
extract to your desktop on your PC
choose the most up to date version v1.30 or v1.32 I believe
mount your phone to your PC via usb cable and copy the SU file to your sdcard
reboot to twrp click install find the SU zip
select it and swipe to flash

Thanks. Will try this after I read through this whole thread again. When I find some time. Will let you know if it works - or if I still need more help.

And another thing.

Great post! I think this is going to help a lot of people and it's a great reference. One more thing that I ran into that I feel dumb for not seeing now *facepalm* is a soft-brick caused by trying to flash a ROM when not S-OFF'd. I know this is not always necessary, but probably the easiest way to flash a custom ROM.

When you flash a rom while s-on you have to fastboot flash the kernel/boot.img first.
I highly suggest getting s-off it will save you a lot of headaches :D
