I think I've got the same issue as a couple other people, but the answers have been PMs and not links. I've got a rooted, S-ON Sprint M8, running 4.25.651.14. It works, but I'd like to grab the stock recovery and take the OTA MM update. I thought I'd backed up my stock recovery, but it must have been a previous version - It flashed, but when I tried to take the 4.25.651.18 OTA update, I got an error. I've tried to find a download for the recovery, but all the stock files I've found are several versions old.

So, can anyone send me/point me to the stock recovery for 4.25.651.14, or tell me how to extract it from the RUU? Flashing the whole RUU seems like overkill.

EDIT: Disregard, I found the solution. For anyone else looking, the recovery.img files can be extracted from the appropriate firmware (NOT RUU - I'm an idiot) files in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173. Thanks to Murtaza02 for the post that led me to the answer!

You can pull it from the 4.25.651.14 Full Firmware using 7-zip

I did a factory reset and clean RUU install of MM today, but after installing SuperSU from TWRP my phone hangs at the HTC startup screen. Anyone else having a similar issue or know what I'm doing wrong?

Using the latest on crossfire's site (https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip)
Using TWRP 3.0.0...
Wiped Cache
Wiped Dalvik/ARK

Phone is an M8 HK.
That's not the latest stable SuperSU, which is why your ROM won't boot.

You must unlock the bootloader to be able to flash custom ROMs. You will lose everything on internal storage by doing so. Backup anything that you may want to keep from internal storage and move to PC.

Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA Labs

I'm sure this doesnt get read very often. I have a bit of programming experience in other areas(PLC), but this is new to me. I just unlocked my m8 v6.2 today. Its an old phone just playing with it to have some fun. I have gotten as far as the adb reboot recovery and installing the supersu v1.94. When the phone boots back on. I get a little prompt on windows 7. Down in the bottom right corner for hidden task. It says device driver software was not sucessfully installed. When it boots back up it acts like it starts to download the drivers then I get that prompt. I downloaded the drivers and adb and such from the guide and have followed it to a T. I checked with root checker and it says not properly installed. Cant seem to get it to root. I keep checking to see if it detects my phone and it does. I thought about flashing cwm and trying it that way? So, Could someone with a little more expertise send me in the right direction? Thank you :)

edit:
So, I am having another dilemma, I tried flashing a updated version of supersu and it wouldnt take. So, I tried putting the zip file directly into the sdcard through the htc sync manager. well now I come to a white htc screen and get stuck there. So I went back in and deleted the newer supersu version and reboot it with the v1.94. Same problem with reboot recovery and figured I would have to wipe it back to factory reset. I then went to wipe and set it to factory reset. No change in status. white htc screen. I am still able to get into the bootloader. It still says I am unlocked. at this point im a little stumped. Now the devices isnt connecting. Im not sure how to get it back to connecting??? is there anyway to load from that screen, I can toggle through, will recovery work or am I bricked?

update 2: Guess you just have to play around if you went through all the first steps first. So I went into recovery on the bootloader and it brought me back to twrp v2.7 . From there my device would connect, I then went back and got the latest version on twrp 3.02 I believe. Flashed it to the bootloader then i went to reboot. It didnt really do anything. It came back to white screen so I went back into the bootloader and then recovery. It brought up the newest twrp version. From there I flashed the newest version on supersu v2.76. restarting at the moment. I Think im just going to look into a custom rom and worry about rooting later, been a long day lol.

Update 3: Ok, I got it rooted. After I flashed newest supersu. It was rooted. I used root checker to do so. I am now running on bad boyz ROM.
Thank you for all the info on here. I thought it would be a help if I went through my step by step process from a newbie prespective. Im sure there are others on here, but there are also a lot of pages here.
