I'm sure the "old" one would work perfectly fine. But it doesn't matter anyway at this point, I suppose .
Yeah I wasn't aware of that until BD619 informed me, yet was still kind enough to upload the latest stock recovery to alleviate my concerns on the matter. The guys in this thread have been very helpful to a new-comer like me to an HTC device, which I am extremely grateful for. I guess some questions would appear as common knowledge to some people, but for others (such as myself), am just trying to learn as much I can and have not been doing this for several years.

I only commented to allay your fears (and anyone else's that might be reading) about using an "older" stock recovery, as its only useful purposes are flashing OTAs and factory resetting the device. And I have yet to see a version of stock recovery that can't perform those two tasks without issue ;).

Ok cool. But pardon me if I'm mistaken; but your two prior posts to this one left the impression on me that my questions about the stock recovery were an annoyance/stupid questions. I apologize for my ignorance on these things, (and if I took your response in the wrong context), as I am still trying to learn about android modification, and it can become confusing at times. Thank you for the clarification and confirmation.

Nope, just trying to spread the knowledge. Sorry if my tone was misunderstood. Really difficult to express tone over the internet, but it seems most people err on the side of offense rather than assuming people are genuinely trying to be helpful. I typically try to lead users to proper conclusions rather than provide direct answers for two reasons: 1 because rule #1 on xda is to search first, and 2 because that's how I learned. I figure just giving answers away will lead some people (again, this is not directed at you) to never take the time to learn and always assume answers should be given to them. You've likely seen this behavior around the forums.

But I understand being cautious with your device and not wanting to risk damage to it; it is, after all, a beautiful device.

Woohoo, I just unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP, and got root!
First order of business was to hide the on-screen buttons.
This is awesome, thank you to everyone who made this such a quick and painless process!

I use GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
I thought about installing pie but decided I just needed something simple like GMD.
It's a great app and very customizable. I have mine set to where I tap the very bottom edge of the screen to bring up the nav buttons, and also made the nav bar slimmer than how it is stock.
Thanks a million, I am so glad to be able to actually use the entire screen now.

If you are having issues with the "Official" TWRP in the folder try one of these...HERE or HERE

A couple guides to reference if you get lost.

***Note: please use the files I have provided as they are for the Sprint M8...the files in these guides may not be Sprint specific. If you use those files you may end up with a soft brick or worse.***

How to Root New HTC One 2014 (M8)
How to Root and Install TWRP on HTC One M8

Those of you that insist on taking the OTA follow these steps:

Hi all. Just wondering if all of the instructions in the op will work for the HK version.

Thanks!
