complete noob here. Can i still root my phone with out any back up? what can i do after i root it?can i delete any pre-stalled app i have no use for?

Yes you can root your phone without a backup, although it's not advisable. If you happen to soft-brick your phone and have to do a factory reset, you would lose all your data (texts, pictures, etc.) at the least. And yes, you can delete or freeze pre-installed apps. You should search for a list of which apps are safe to remove for your model of phone first, and freezing apps is preferable to deleting them (that way you can thaw them out if freezing them caused problems with your phone - way easier than trying to re-install) search Google play for apps that will let you freeze apps.

plz help me!!

Hello guys, since all of the tutorials I have seen on here are all complicated I decided to post the easiest method around. You don't even need to use any command prompt for this. The only problem is that this is chinese language, so you have to click the exact buttons.

1. Download this file
2. Install the software, using the installation buttons as you would on any other windows installation.
3. When you have installed it, you will see a green button, press it. Then connect your phone (JellyBean update would be best, i havent tried with ICS)
4. When the phone is connected the software will recognise the phone and the green button will show "ROOT", click on it.
5. The phone is going to be rooted in some seconds and the process is finished when it will show a tick on the software.
6. The phone will reboot.
7. When it is rebooted, go to google play and download super su.
8. Open super su and it will ask you to update the binaries, and you must click on update, and then normal.
9. A window in chinese will pop up on the phone, this is the screen that allows you to give root permissions to any app. You must click the button on the right.
10. You are done! Root process is complete!
11. This is the most important step. Leave a thanks! If you liked the tutorial, please show it to me!

Post below if you have questions or don't understand.

We have a new LG root method out... designed for LG G3 initially but should work on many more "recent" LG android devices. should support most LG devices on firmware built Q2 2012 up until now.

New root is called Stump and can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906

New devices will have to be "bruteforced" by one user of each device/firmware... once bruteforced.. all users of that model will be supported once the new info has been added to the app.

Example: User has a Verizon G3 on 4.4.2 24A... user opens stump.. device is not supported yet... so user accepts the "bruteforce" message and waits an hour or so and is then rooted. in addition to that Verizon G3 on 4.4.2 24A now being rooted... all future attempts at rooting Verizon G3 on 4.4.2 24A will take less than a second to root.

The more devices that are "bruteforced" the greater the support list for Stump root is. While it's a tad annoying the first user of each device to wait an hour or so... Stump root has to potential to root more LG devices than any other method available.

Please provide a logcat if the app is crashing for you. Please report your exact model/firmware if Stump tells you the device is unsupported(and gives you no option to bruteforce).

Am I really the first to report this Chinese piece of software has bundled spyware? Detected by ESET.

Like many other crapware AV progs, you will get plenty of false positives to scare you so that you will continue to subscribe to their software.

If you're uncomfortable with using this unroot program, then just don't use it.

There is nothing like false positive from AV which does not scan heuristically for potentially harmful code. This finding is a clear mark of a spyware piece of known and detectable and not-just-potentially but REALLY harmful malware. Being of its origin it does not even surprise me much. And yes I am uncomfortable to use it so I won't.

What I AM doing is REPORTING THIS AS MALWARE and WARNING others.

All these people including me have used it without any side effects.

I can't download the file from windows. All browsers report this file as potentially dangerous and block it... strange, last friday I downloaded from the same windows pc.... I'm gonna download it with my linux box and copy to the windows via winscp...

Hey guys they came out with an English version http://www.mgyun.com/en/GetVRoot

Hi guys. I tried this method, it worked on my p778g with ICS (it was recognized as a p769), the only bad thing is the language, it's in chinese, but worked.

To get the language changed install SuperSU then use the Switch superuser app to uninstall it reboot reinstall and you wont be able to uninstall the chinese program except you WILL have SuperSU managing your root access
