Im stuck on the recovery step.. I got a recovery file from Techerrata entitled, "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0-m7". I have it in the same folder as all other files, but when Im in command prompt it keeps giving me an error message, saying that it can not load "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0-m7".

I have done all previous steps fairly easily.

1) Should I download the binary's from the HTC Dev Website? (Step 4) ???:confused:
2) If my phone says "CAN NOT MOUNT SD CARD" is that going to affect this guide ???:confused:

PLEASE HELP! :good: :good:

Thanks!!

can't unlock

Hello!!!

I'm following all the steps to unlock the bootloader but I'm getting stuck in command prompt when it says sending unlock token <0kb>...It never sends anything to my phone, no accept screen, nothing, I can't find the reason.

I have and HTC ONE from at&t running 4.4.4.

Thanks!

This is long, but it's nice for noobs because it's detailed.
Hi @ixrs, first of all thanks for creating something keeping in mind complete newbies. However, as someone doing this in 2019 while the post was last edited in 2013, I just wanted to make sure if these steps are still relevant today.

For starters, these are my device details:
Device: HTC One M7 AT&T
OS: HTC Sense 6 (Stock, non-rooted)
Bootloader: Locked

What I aim to accomplish:
Unlock the bootloader, so that—
1) I can flash a custom recovery (TWRP, I guess?)
2) Flash a custom ROM (something in the Oreo or Pie region, whichever offers stability)
3) Acquire root (is it still SuperSU or Magisk now?)

Of course, I would want to be able to use the phone as a phone, and I remember that the only reason I didn't/couldn't already be on a custom ROM 2-3 years ago was because of complexities in doing the above things back then. After having used giant phones in the past couple of years, I finally decided to go back to my trusty HTC due to its form factor, and while it is still smooth on the last stock OS update it received from the company, I was finally hoping to inject some breath of fresh air into the OG One device. Any help in this regard would be much appreciated. Look forward to your response.

Thank you and warm regards,
Deepesh
