You can flash the kernel now, just dont boot up you will be stuck on bootloop.
if i dont boot up the phone, how come i can root the phone using DooMLoRD's method?

Don't forget to close flashtool, now turn on your device and connect it to the PC, and start the rooting method as describe here.
from step 2 state that i need turn on the phone and connect it to the PC.

so, what should i do?

EDIT : i allready done this method only in a few minutes, btw, you all can only just download Neo/New V 4.0.3 Kernel here to save your time. :D

ADB Drivers

Hello everybody,

[*]ADB drivers installed (if u are not sure, then install this)
I've already installed Flashtool (http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool) to update to ICS (ICS it's still not available for my SI), does this mean that I already have the ADB drivers?

If not, when using the ADB drivers installer you suggested above, I'm given the following options:

View attachment 1251180

Which of these options do I need to tick in this case for a SK17i?

Thanks,
Carlos

i think i did something wrong please heeeelllpppp... :(

hey guys. i think i did something wrong here.
so i missed one step here which is

" First of all, I assumed that you already in ICS 4.0.4 ROM "

i didn't read this before (my fault) :crying:
i just flash my xmp to Neo/New V 4.0.3 kernel while i'm still on gingerbread.
then i do the DoomLord step by step to root it. it was stuck on a line but i read from other thread that i have to close adb.exe from task manager so i did it and the process is continue and it stated ALL DONE!
after this i realize that my rom is not 4.0.4. it's 4.0.2

now my phone don't want to start. only blank screen and nothing happen if i pressed any button.
here's what i have tried:
1. open pc companion and see if i can upgrade it to 4.0.4. but when i open it doesn't detect my phone.
2. download 4.0.2 ftf file and flash the kernel using flashtool. but it stuck on "reading device information". same with 4.1.B i downloaded from link in this thread.

please help me..
what must i do? :crying: :crying: :crying:

Sorry for my bad english

i need to use my phone immediately. so desperately i plug my battery and plug it in again. then open flash tool and flash it to ics wipe all data, cache, application (because if i uncheck this, flashing would only make bootloop). so here my old phone with new fresh ice cream sandwich. i'm not really happy losing all application but at least i can use my phone.. :|

Should have used Sony back up tool, works great, could be better but works, lose app data unless you use titianium backup

worked after a lil trouble..

this method works fine...

After flashing the kernel to 4.0.3, phone screen becomes blank, only red LED and bright back light appears, but dont worry about that as said in tutorial..

after rooting (step 2), phone goes in to bootloop, also dont worry about it and keep the process continue...

install 4.0.4 kernel again and u'll hv rooted phone...

thanks for the tut....

random auto shutdown following strange battery level changes

Thanks...it worked.,,to roo using above methods,,but i get into serious problem with my xperia mini pro sk17i that....battery level behaves randomly drastically coming to very low levels and gets auto shutdown ...it is happening randomly....sometimes auto shutdown happens in 15-20min....sometimes ,,after 30min.....pls help ...my phone is still in warranty period...dont knw whether now i am getting my warranty due to above procedures or not....so pls help me to fix this ASAP...thanks in advance!!

I searched on internet...found some battery calibration app...stating that after flashing ROM battery needs to be calibrated...so installed it ...but i observed strange thing again....it is said to tap on calibrate when charge shows 100% but due to the fact that battery levels changes strangely...battery status 100% is never reaching...and behavior is so weired.that in charging condition..that i see it 77% now...after 5min see it 82%...then after 10min see it 66%....then...57% after 5min....then 60% after 3min,,,,,and 1% after 10min....and these all happen in charging status...and if it wasn't into charging...my device would have gone auto shutdown after 1% level......so how would i even try with battery calibration app :( :(.....pls help me soon plss

pls help....my device is not able to be ON for more than a hour or even less and even auto shutdown in charging mode also due to above issues...!!!

I'm really desesperated

Well, I've got the bootloop problem and now I'm not able to JUST flash the files. I'd say this because the device connect and disconnet infinite times.

Then, I'm really scared because I trusted and did the steps of this topic correctly I think I'm in a hardbrick situation.

Wether the phone at least stay connected I would be able to unbrick it.

But, I can't unbrick this phone,

COULD SOMEONE HELP ME? I don't know what I should do. :crying::crying::crying:

ADB drivers

Hi,

so my bf is trying to root his xperia, and he has same firmware as mentioned. he did all stuff listed, installing adb drivers with all stuff ticked in as well.

Yet, when he moves to step 1 of flashing, in flashtool, but it gives him an error saying adb drivers are not installed. where's the problem?

"step 1
I selected as the pic do in flashtool
then i followed the instrcution to unplug, turn off, hold button and plug back in
then it said i need to install drivers"

no neo v(mt11) firmware was detected after download. only x10 is shown when i click flash.. i try to: 1. downloaded and run flashtool drivers; 2.copy "MT11i_4.1.A.0.562_Nordic_1253-1755.ftf" to flashtool firmware folder; 3. drag it to flashtool--- nothing happens... only x10 firmware was available.. should i proceed flashing?? thanks in advance..

btw, i'm ics 4.0.4 xmp user...
I have the same problem.
There is no file of "MT11i_4.1.A.0.562_Nordic_1253-1755.ftf" .
I deleted the "001" after ftf file name.
How can I add this file in Flash Tool?
Please let me know.
Thank you.

Did he install all the drivers from flashtool>drivers folder? There's a .exe for installing the drivers. Then it should work!

Otherwise try the downgrad upgrade tutorial :)

Will this work with the new 4.1.B.0.587 firmware?
Maybe better try this tutorial with downgrade upgrade method :)

It works fine!
Here can I find the unroot procedure if I need to unroot the phone (for example when going to the sony service center for warranty repairs)?

Rooting/cpu locked at 1024mhz

Hello, I have done all that you posted and unlocked/rooted my phone. It says I have superuser control and I can manage applications like clocking, but when I want to overclock it over 1024mhz I don't have the option to slide over that number. I tried many cpu overclocking applications, but it is stuck at 1ghz. I can underclock it :)
Any comment?

Hello everyone,

I registered because I tried to root my Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) with the guide provided by patembe. My phone had ICS 4.0.4 with kernel 4.1.B.0.431.At first I flashed the 4.0.3 kernel, then I rooted the device by using DooMLoRD's method. Everything worked and so I tried to flash the stock 4.0.4 kernel. Afterwards I restarted my phone and I saw the "Sony Ericsson" logo. But it doesn't start but goes in bootloop, so after ~ seconds there's a blackscreen and then the SE logo again. Blackscreen, logo and so on....

Did I brick my phone?:(

Thank you so much for your replies!
