Hallo!

I can't seem to get it working.

My phone is branded (italian Tim), still System info/Configuration tells me it can be unlocked.

I intalled the driver as explained and the phone connects correctly in fastboot mode (light turns blue and fastboot tells me I'm using version 0.5, so I guess it's allright).

But when I do:

Code:
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x16516C**********
I get:

Code:
<bootloader> Unlock phone requested
FAILED <remote: oem unlock failed!>
finished. total time: 0,056s
What am I missing/doing wrong??

Thanks.

Tried several times, still no dice.
Maybe my phone, since is branded, just can't be unlocked even if it says it can be..at this point I don't know what to think.

Thanks anyway, Erica..

I got the problem again! I found a solution. Get another code from Sony. I typed my IMEI wrongly and got the wrong code.

No way.

My IMEI is 335101050336707

I enter: 33510105033670 (14 numbers as requested) in the website.

I get: 16516C86D25C5456 in my mail

I type: fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x16516C86D25C5456

I get the same error.

Too much info lol. That was suppose to be private. Try entering your IMEI number again. This time just be careful. You may get a different code like I did.

Used the files from this thread and tried even on archlinux getting fastboot from the aur...same result.

The only thing I obtained till now is debranding, by flashing the stock firmware.

Since what I really am interested in is root access, I'm gonna try getting it today without unlocking: I've seen that there's way for the xperia Z that seems to work even for the V on JB...

I've heard that unlocking is samewhat bad adviced (maybe something about losing bravia engine, is that true?)

Usually unlocking bootloader disable the ability to use TrackID and Bravia Engine but on the forum there's a solution for both problems.
But with tim unless you've got some friend at the shop you can forget about warranty service if you unlock your device.
BTW, I've sent you a pm ;)

So many failures in this tutorial, completly unuseable. i got a hungarian win7 and an english winxp sp3, no one is compatible with this guide. no pic. PICS MAN. poor stupid guys have to see pics, making the tutorial able to do in 5 minutes instead of 30.
Words. use pics instead of words. sometimes i CAN NOT KNOW what are you thinking about, when u use one word instead of another. it means completely else things. USE PICS.
Last. Check. always check. whenever u do something. how do you check? there is no check. if you work somewhere, the last step is always CHECK, whatever you do. people dies, bcos some didnt checked his work. Work is NOT DONE without being checked.

What do you mean? This works fine for me. Unless you have a problem reading simple English.

slenderman,

wonderful instructional detail. but one thing i kindda got lost with the thread: when checking bootloader status allowed, (1) does a NO mean that your method cannot be applied? (2) even with a NO STATUS, can the KEY that one gets from SONY still work using your method?

just clarifying since i plan to compile helpful instructions all for XEPERIA V, from rooting, to unlocking and even swapping the SD and Internal memories. But only the ones that have been tested and working.

awaiting your expert resply,

thanks for your time dude...

If your bootloader status is showing NO, then it mean you cannot unlock it. you can still get the key form SONY, but you will fail after you enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY. hope that help:)

---------- Post added at 10:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:15 PM ----------

To unlock your phone, the easiest way is use flashtool for Sony, just connect your phone to your computer with android debugging enable and hit BLU button, then follow the screen, you will easily unlock your bootloader. Just to make sure you can unlock your bootloader, dial *#*#7378423#*#* in dial screen, you should enter sony service menu, from service menu, go to service info>configuration you should see your bootloader unlock status, if it show YES, then you can unlock, if NO, then you are stuck with your stock rom..:)

thanks so much dude!

i guess then, it can only be unlocked via 'hardware' methods... which i've seen in some websites. so 'locked-in' users will just have to be patient, and when their contract is over, then perhaps, they can unlock the bootloader via 'hardware' procedures and install their desired custom ROMs. thanks once again.

Stuck

Im stuck at STEP 11- Step 11: Here is the important part. Type these commands to unlock your bootloader!
Quote:
1: Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
2: It should return a value like “0.5”. This ensures that your device is correctly connected
3: Now type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY
Important! Remember the code you recieved? Replace KEY with that

when i type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
i get "fastboot.exe" is not a recognized as an external or internal command, operable program or batch file.

Try to navigate to the directory where fastboot.exe is stored (use CD) in command prompt like this:
C:\> cd c:\users\yourusername\desktop\fastbootdirectory
Then run your command.
You are seeing this error because windows is unaware of the fastboot.exe location until you add it to your PATH variable.

Alternatively you can specify the complete path within the command line:
C:\completepath\fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version

Good luck!
