In the Installing custom kernels section it says that we have to open the flash.cmd file
Can someone tell me which file this is referring to?

Hey.. I hav a few questions.. Though these might seem very dumb but ya im kind of new to this stuff...

1) I know how to flash the kernel but i dont know tat after flashing it, do i have to reflash the custom rom im using or like restore from backup..?
2) If in future i want to restore from backup in cwm my kernal wont be changed back to the kernal of the backup. Right.?
3)If i ever end up bricking my fone and i flash the stock firmware. It will replace the kernel to the stock one right.!?

1) No you don't have to reflash the rom or restore anything, the kernel doesn't affect your rom. It's a different partition ;)

2) No it won't restore your kernel, that's impossible on our devices. You have to reflash the old kernel using fastboot on your PC :)

3) Yes the stock firmware.ftf will replace the custom kernel, that's right :good:

I can't really afford a new phone right now and i don't want to screw this up. Sorry for the dumb questions, i'm a newbie.I want to install CM on my phone. This is what i'll be doing in the given order. Is there any fault here?(i have a stock rooted GB LWW)
1. Unlock bootloader using the computer's cmd.
2. Install CWM
3. Flash kernel using Fastboot tools in flashtool.
4. Flash the ROM using recovery.
5. Flash the gapps files using recovery.

Also can i do away with installing CWM and use flashtool for installing the ROM and gapps in recovery.

Doubt after rooting

hey , i rooted my xperia mini by downgrading the version to 4.0.2.a.0.42 from 4.0.2.a.0.84 (GB).
Now i want to upgrade back to 4.0.2.a.0.84 or ICS or jelly bean and if i do so will i lose root privilege ???

if no which is better, GB or ICS or JB for my phone,?? i have heard installing ICS on xperia mini slows down the phone ,what ab JB??

if yes, then probably i will stay in 4.0.2.a.0.84
But system update to 4.0.2.a.0.84 is pinned in my notification bar how do i remove it from there??

thanks in advance :)

Installing CWM is not needed, CyanogenMod's kernel already includes it. Otherwise you are doing it right.
You can not use Flashtool to install ROM or gapps.

If you make OTA update to 4.0.2.A.0.84, then you will keep the root.
Any other kind of updating will delete root.

ICS does indeed slow down the phone somewhat. JB is not officially supported, thereby it has some bugs here and there.

You can remove the notification by deleting or freezing UpdateCenter.apk file in /system/app.

doubts

Hi, first time asking something, I have two questions
1. I have downloaded many ROMS so far from here and other sites as well, however sometimes I don't understand why they don't put the download link while talking about a ROM, they discuss about the bugs and their fixes , others openions an all, all quiet helpful I agree, but yesterday I spent the whole night on this "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434001" all 126 pages and I have seen ppl talking like "mini pro link uploaded"...next reply..."I have seen that, thanks a lot"...its like all understood, but where is the download link?? I really don't get it, ofcourse I am new here and so m asking this...
2. So far whatever ROMS and KERNELS I have tried is for xperia x10 mini pro...where kernels were .ftf files and ROMS are zip files, I use flashtool and sometimes x10flasher ..whatever but then sometimes I fine few kernels that are in .img format and you need to flash it in fastboot mode. However in my x10 mini pro I can connect my device in flash mode but I have tried so much but couldn't connect it in fastboot mode, ofcourse I have fastboot frivers installed though, keeping the usb plugged in pressing the vol button inserting the battery to make the device boot into fastboot is what they say , I tried all possible button combination and did changed the order of these steps, tried flashing command pront with "fastboot" command as well, but everytime I see "Device not connected"...so now my question is why don't they make kernels as FTF files rather than img files, I mean whats the difference...or is there any tool by which I can convert an img file to an ftf file?

if possible please gimmi the link for kamrush's miui rom (ICS 4.0.4/4.0.3) link as I have spent the entire night looking for it , its morning now, cant stay awake anymore, any kind of thanks or sugesion is appreciated...

peace and respect

1. All the download files are mostly put in the first post or at least the links are there.
2. Seems like fastboot is disabled your phone (phone has/had SIM-lock or is/was branded). Search on the forum for more info.

Also, you are talking about x10 mini pro. Everything in this section works on 2011 Xperia Mini Pro, these do not work on X10 Mini Pro. These are 2 different phones.

Now kamarush has removed all his ROMs from the forum. We do not know, why, but he has stopped the development and removed all the files. The MIUI ROM sources are still in his github, so you can use them to compile it for yourself, though I am not sure, if it is working or not.

yah I know these are two different phones however some of these roms works on x10 as well, moreover I do get rid of status 7 by removing few lines from assert..yah sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't n m ok with it, and I went ti gthub there by clicking the "download zip" I got the zip file, and as expected cudnt flush ..the same old (status 0) and installation abort...lol... , but I did manage to install miui2.7.13 (not the final release though) which is ics 4.0.4..but its full of bugs, keyboard, wifi, screen rotation, camera, data, then icon layouts were not cool, full of bugs..but ofcourse I din get that particular version I was looking for..i mean the stable one..so I got back to rc3 version(miui v3) which is 2.3.7 and its far more stable...

but hey tell me something with my xperia I understand it do have to match few things n I get it, like fixed kernel and respective ROM for my device right..but the problem is in my other mobile (micromax a101), I cant even try that as well, you know...and I am completely clueless about it...its running ics 4.0.4, now with stock kernel the problem was ...options were few, like advance, signature verification enable, reboot to recovery.. etc were not there, I mean those normal options that we see in normally, and secondly since its stock recovery I get this "sig verification failed error" while installing custom rom, but I get it as they are not official I get these signature error, but atleast I can brows my sdcard and could take backup or restore a backup u kow,
Now when I upgraded to cwm 6.0.2.8 I cant mount my sdcard, hence I cant take back up and installing custom rom is out of the question , hope u understand that...I tried everything single thing u can think of right now, like formatted the card with every file system thru mini tools or
sdformatter...went to the vold.fstab file there I found the the partition for internel card is [email protected] and the external is mentioned as "auto", tried editing that but putting "[email protected]" or just "[email protected]" but then the external card simply vanished...but I got it back later...now I know since its micromac m talking about, I shud go to the relevant section, but u know I think the prob m facing is about mounting an sdcard in CWMR, so somebodyfromhell what do u think where is the problem ? searched everywhere lots faced the same problem but nobody has the solution, I tried moving to twrp as well but I cant flash twrp some error I get n ...ufff one of those things.. so help me out...oh btw I have seen this phones /system , /cache and /data is in ext4 format, and some doubt that it might be because of cach memory got corrupted, I donno
