So i got myself two redmi 3 from china. one in GREY one in SILVER both with Chinese MIUI with option to select (only) English.

turning them on and installing Play Store (with a tutorial) and a few usual google apps and changing the browser away from the default one to another one made the phones useful (installed apps, defaults).

comparing the two phones I noticed a difference in the screens. the GREY's version has more a "red" tone to it, while the SILVER's has a "blueish" tone. I checked all the warm/cold color, automatic brightness and readmode options. the screens are different. I havent decided which one i find worse but they are both pretty bad compared with the redmi note 2 full HD screen i had before (2ghz, 16gb).

how can I find out what screen models are in those phones? I heard they are supplied by JDI, a japanese jointventure. Is it possible to find it out in the serial numbers? thanks in advance.

btw. there is no official "multilanguage" - ROM out yet as far as I know, it is supposed to come out around 10th of march.. will it be possible to flash it through the "MIUI PC SUITE" without rooting or other difficulties involved? thanks again!

I received my xiaomi today and the rom was mutlilanguage even if all the traduction were not great (i'm french). I don't know what rom it was because I flashed it whith a prerooted rom in english.
I think you will be able to flash the new official rom without difficulties when it comes.

Hello darkwark. as far as i know there are 2 different panels used in production of Redmi 3.
You can check wich one your units have using Engineer Menu *#*#6484#*#* it is also very helpful for other things like quick testing all phone features.

As far the quality of the panel, i agree it is not great, my main complain is very poor blacks. However when you consider price of the phone (110$ in china) i think it is amazing for that budget.

so the one is:

LCD

EBBG,ist30xx_HD,FW:12,Black

other one

i agree they are cheap and great, also the battery is very satisfying compared to the redmi note 2. the battery life was not great. but the screen was wow! :)

Redmi 3 Grey has this screen: "nt35521s_HD720p_video_EBBG"?

Could you please take a picture of both devices side by side so we could compare the differences?
After reading many posts in MIUI forums it seems that BOE (JDI) is a better display than EBBG (Foxconn) with brighter, more realistic colors and maybe efficiency.

Thanks in advance!
