Two SMS threads for 1 conversation ISSUE

I am currently using TDJ's stable MIUI build, but this issue has been happening for ages: for one particular contact only, the messages he sends to me are kept in a separate thread from the ones I send to him. I've tried deleting and re-adding the contact, checking for duplicates, but nothing seems to work. I'm not sure if this is a rom specific issue, but I've noticed primarily on MIUI.

Is this a known bug?

Probably because you have 2 phone numbers saved to that person. Ex: 512-555-5555 and the other is 555-5555 or +1-512-555-5555
