You can flash it over it and you can even flash it from TWRP itself.
Just go to the Install section, choose "Install image" and install the .img in the recovery partition

Thank you. I followed your directions. Everything worked and I performed nandroid backup WITHOUT compression successfully.
I repeated though the process WITH compression and twrp failed to finish. The error log is the following:

I:Closing tar
I: pig z process ended with RC=0
Splitting thread ID 0 into archive 2
I:Using compression...
I:fork( ) failed
Error creating backup.
I:Error creating tar '/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/P7AMGYSOHILRBU4P/2018-07-06--17-11-31_xiaomieu.inter/data.ext4.win001' for thread 0
Error creating backup.
I:ERROR tarList for thread ID 0
Error creating backup.
I:InfoManager saving '/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/P7AMGYSOHILRBU4P/2018-07-06--17-11-31_xiaomieu.inter/data.info'
createTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255
Backup Failed. Cleaning Backup Folder.

COULD YOU OR SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY I GOT ERROR 255 WHEN ENABLED COMPRESSION????

I have just tried to recreate what you have done but I did not get any error. I made a backup with compression enabled of the data partition and it finished successfully.
Do you have any other option enabled?

Also, the error 255 appears usually when the process is cancelled by the user

No I do not have any other switches on and I have not cancelled the backup process. I do not know if the size of the backup ( 13 GB ) is the cause of the problem.

That shouldn't be a problem if you had enough free space.
Were you using adb or did you do the backup on the phone?

I performed a backup on the phone. In the meantime I solved the problem. I read somewhere on the internet that I had to search the created log file in order to find the directory that caused the 255 error. In my case this directory belonged to an application called "windy". By removing this application the 255 error disappeared. Thanks for your interest...

Hi all,
I have encrypted my data and TWRP cannot mount data partition anymore (never ask for the password, give only error).

Every one has the same issue and solved it?

Thank you

Today I want to share with you the device tree I have made to compile TWRP for our Redmi Pro as well as the images of TWRP to install directly to the device.

What are the advantages of having the recovery compiled from source?
The main advantage of having the recovery compiled from source is the ease to get the recovery updated. Whenever TWRP updates their recovery we will have that version in our phones because we will only need to compile the recovery with the device tree that is already done and that should work perfectly and shouldn't take more than half an hour if everything goes well.

Then I will be updating the recovery when a new version is released
