Hi trax7, is there a real chance to get the encrpytion working this year?
Please, don't feel critizised. This is only a rational question.

For me, encryption is an essential feature.
There is to much pain with any new update (Lineage OS) on encrypted z5c.
I'm thinking of switching back to original ROM.

Thanks for your feedback.
cheers,

Hello guys, I want to update you on how stuff is going:
I have read, asked and educated myself on how to proceed and give the community a working decryption build... However, my life turned really miserable around a month ago with some things happening and I lost a lot to ungrateful and despicable people. Luckily, things are slowly getting better now and in a few days I'll hopefully be back..

I thank you all for your tremendous patience!

Hello trax7, keep in mind:
In the end everything will be good and if it's not good, it's not the end yet.

fastboot flash recovery recovery-name.img

or could my problem be caused by the unlocking of my bootloader?

My Z5c is running stock 32.4.A.1.54 & I rooted my phone using rootkernel, which includes TWRP but an older version (3.0.2-0).
Can i flash this updated version? Will it replace the older version or will i have two recoveries? From what i've read i'll have two recoveries, is that correct? If so will I be able to boot into the newer one with vol down + power?

I've just flash the version from 23-02-18 and tried running a backup. I get a lot of errors all along the same theme -
"Unable to locate '/XXXXXXXXXX' partition for backup calculations."
Where XXXXXXXX is FOTAKernel, ta, appslog, oem, lta-label, diag, modemst1 & modemst2.

I've deleted the .twrp file in the twrp folder and i still get the same errors.

Flash latest Nougat firmware and a custom kernel to be able to boot in recovery and so the partition alignment is correct.

Edit: I found your thread where you say you are on latest firmware. The results you get are very strange and i havent seen it before. It's not the recovery's fault tho - works fine on many other people's devices. Id recommend not just flashing the latest Nougat but also a full wipe so the device can repartition itself. There is a bug somewhere probably but its too obscure to diagnose... Copy your stuff to a PC and wipe, thats what i can tell you to try...

Thanks for the reply, at the moment I would rather not reset the phone but if it becomes critical that i require the recovery for backup/restore purposes i will try what you have suggested.

Just a thought, I used rootkernel for rooting and integrated TWRP into in, could this be causing a conflict with both version of the recovery updating/overwriting/merging the settings file? If this is possible am I okay to re-run rootkernel ommitting TWRP integration and just flash this new kernel over the top? or would i need to do some wipes before flashing the new kernel?

Rootkernel is incompatible with this TWRP. It has a bundled one and it cannot load this one, which resides outside of the kernel.

Hmm Forgive my noobness but I'm not sure what you mean?
I've not attempted to bundle this version in with Rootkernel but I've installed it as per your instructions.
I can boot into and use the Rootkernel version of TWRP & this version of TWRP.
The Rootkernel version shows all partitions & this version only shows a few.

If I'm reading you reply correctly I need to remove Rootkernel and then your version will work, how do I get rid of Rootkernel but keep stock, root & your version of TWRP?

Install any other custom kernel and then flash Magisk. :)

I can for the life of me not get any version of TWRP to work.

- Coming from official latest firmware
- Unlocking bootloader
- Flashing TWRP through fastboot -- holding volume down and power -- boots into android
- Booting TWRP though fastboot -- screen remains black, blue light stays on

    THANK YOU!!!!
You mean 2018 and not 2017.
Yes... xD I am going insane from all the stuff I have to do rn lol :silly::silly:

In the latest two builds SD card access is broken again (or at least I can't access it). Reverting to recovery_suzuran-130218.img SD card access works again.
I saw what you are talking about. I will try to fix SD card for latest version.
@TwrpBuilder SD Card is routed to Internal Storage after 15.07.2018 (shows same size)

    EDIT: Fixed and posted :)

is this twrp working witout any issues.
I tried it 2-3 weeks ago and i got a lot of errors something with "can´t read...." when i was trying to do a backup.
So before flashing again i would like to be sure that it is working flawlessly... ;)
Yes, I am using it and it's working flawlessly. Only downside is there is no encryption support yet but I'll work on that when my laptop returns. :)
