Hi guys,

Could use some help.

I was having issues with my MOTO G4 (UK), so I decided to wipe it. I had previously unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. Anyways in Wipe > Advanced, I checked all and wiped everything.

Now it says "No OS installed do you want to reboot". I don't have a backup.

What are my options please? Would prefer Stock ROM, preferably still updatable?

Sorry - this is for Moto G4 and not Plus. Would be great if someone could move it.

When you wipe system, you lose OS and then you have to flash a new ROM. The new ROM is basically your OS.

You have 2 options now:

1. Flash a Custom ROM
Connect your device to PC, and then copy the ROM that you want to flash in the device (no need to select "usb for file transfer" in TWRP as that option is enabled by default)
Then just flash the ROM.

2. Flash Stock ROM
Reboot to bootloader from TWRP (Reboot>Bootloader), connect the device to PC and flash Stock ROM.

From next time you flash, make sure to wipe data, cache, dalvik, system. You may flash Internal storage if you'd like to, but then you will have no ROM in internal storage so you will have to connect the device to PC to transfer the ROM zip file in the device.

Thanks.

Are custom ROMs safe? Can the developer have gain access to your phone etc. Is your data safe. I know that's quite a broad question, is any data safe.

Where do I get Stock Rom for my Moto G4 please ?

The developers develop these things in their free time as they enjoy doing this work, and aren't interested in your personal data.
Furthermore, all these projects are open source so you can always check the code if you have any doubts regarding your data's security.

The apps that you use can access your phone's data, you have to worry about the apps, not the ROM, so just make sure what you install on your device.

You can find Stock ROM here; just check if your model number is mentioned there: Stock N Firmware [Apr 01 Security Patch][fastboot]

You can also flash Stock ROM via TWRP from here: [ROM] TWRP Flashable Stock Firmware [7.0][8.1.0]

Thanks again.
I was leaning towards Lineage OS, though I would ask.

moto g4 roms/firmware = moto g4 plus roms/firmware

just be careful flashing the firmware version, for example flashing single sim firmware on a dual sim phone or flashing a non plus firmware on a plus phone (fp)
